Meeting Jesus as Savior OLD

How to Know Jesus As Savior

Before I knew Christ personally, I only knew about Him. His birth was sung about at Christmas. Easter marked the celebration of His crucifixion and resurrection.

But Who Was He to Me?

Then I came face to face with the reality of my sin nature…
*That in-born trait that keeps a person from doing the right that they should do.
*That part of one’s nature that causes a person to do the wrong they shouldn’t.

I was a sinner in need of a Savior.

His Story

His story, as history records, is that Jesus was more than man.

Jesus Is God

Man doesn’t heal lepers with a touch Jesus did.
Man doesn’t calm seas with a word. Jesus did.
Man can’t bear another’s sins Jesus did.
Man can’t pay sin’s debt. Jesus did.
Man doesn’t rise from the dead. Jesus did.

Could you be a sinner in need of a Savior?

The Facts

Though each person is born unique, similarities pervade humanity.

*We are each physically born.

*We each need air in order to breathe.

*We each require food and water.

*Our desire is to be happy.

*Our bodies require rest.

*We sin and fall short of God.

*The wages of our sin is death.

*We must be born again, spiritually, if we want to go to heaven.

Jesus said plainly to a religious leader of His day, “You must be born again. That which is born of flesh is flesh. That which is born of the spirit is Spirit.” John 3:6-7

Your Response

Like physical birth, spiritual birth is a blessing from God.

Would you respond by faith to Christ as your Lord and Savior?

Acknowledge that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23

Believe that Jesus died on the cross for you..”…God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16

Confess your sins. Ask God to forgive you. “If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved”
Romans 10:9

Pray

Dear God, I know I’ve sinned. I believe that Jesus came to die on the cross for me. Please forgive me. Cleanse my life, and come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’name, Amen.

If you sincerely prayed that prayer, God heard you.  By His grace, you are forgiven, holy, and set apart for eternity in Christ.

You mature in your faith in much the same way as you mature physically.

Elements of growth include:

Diet: A balanced physical diet includes foods from each of the basic food groups.

A balanced spiritual diet includes:
1) Daily Prayer
2) Daily Bible Reading
3) Daily Confession
4) Daily Commitment

Exercise:  As physical muscles develop, so do spiritual. Exercise by prayerfully practicing what you are learning in your daily Bible reading.

Worship: Attend church so you can worship with other Christians. Follow Christ’s example of baptism.
Matthew 3:13-17

Share Christ With Others:  Knowing Christ is the most important experience of your life; one you will want to share with others.  Be equipped with God’s Word, the Bible, so you can visit not only with other Christians, but also with those who do not know Christ.  You can find tips on how to share your faith on our web site Wisdom With Thee Word.  Many blessings as you continue to grow in your faith!   In His Love, Debbie
