Survival Tips for a Sane Family

  1. Always say “I love you” when you part for the day.
  2. Apologize if you do something wrong.
  3. Attend church together.
  4. Be in the moment with the person you’re with rather than thinking about something else.
  5. Be responsible. If you say you’re going to do something, do it.
  6. Be kind to one another.
  7. Compliment one another.
  8. Celebrate birthdays and achievements.
  9. Call if you’re going to be late.
  10. Do your homework and chores.
  11. Don’t go to bed angry. Agree, if need be, to continue to discuss differences of opinion the next day; but affirm your love for each other before saying good night.
  12. Don’t expect others to be perfect; you’re not.
  13. Don’t demand your way all the time, or insist on always having the last word.
  14. As often as you can, eat together as a family.
  15. Eat to be healthy because foods affect moods.
  16. Everyone has chores. Do them.
  17. Forgive and extend grace as God has forgiven you.
  18. Garbage in, garbage out: be careful what you let in.
  19. Greet each other after work or school and ask about each other’s day.
  20. Pray together in the mornings before you part for the day.
