BREATH of the ALMIGHTY
“The Spirit of God has made me; and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”
Job 33:4
One of ways in which God the Spirit is referred is the breath of the Almighty. Herbert Lockyer comments, “As the thoughts of my mind are articulated through the action of my breath upon the vocal cords, and are transmitted in the shape of words from the inner world of my being to the outer world when I speak, so the Spirit, or Breath of God, takes the thoughts of God, as well as the inexpressible yearnings of the believer and articulates them (Rom 8:26,27). As God’s Breath gave life to the first man, Adam (Gen 2:7), the same gives life to sinners (Jn 3:8), and to Scripture which honors the Spirit as the livingness of His divine inspiration. In the life-giving power of a breathing life, Jesus endowed His own for life and service. He breathed on them saying, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit,’ – the Master’s breath symbolizing the Spirit who was to possess them. (Jn 20:22)”
You and I can read the above explanation but what is important is that we learn to live by the energizing, inspired breath of the Almighty!

I praise You, BREATH OF THE ALMIGHTY! Thank You for living in me and making me holy, set apart by Your presence. Help me live by Your empowerment and word.

ANCHOR OF MY SOUL
“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered…”
Hebrews 6:19
You need hope. I need hope. Our loved ones need hope. Where do we find it? Do we practice “self talk” and tell ourselves we are “happy and fine,” when we aren’t? Or, do we kneel, look up in praise, and cry out to the One who has gone before us to heaven? The ANCHOR OF OUR SOUL wants us to bring our worries and fears to Him. Today, we can hold to Him rather than be carried away by waves of “life” that might otherwise overwhelm us.
Lord, I praise You, ANCHOR OF MY SOUL. Thank You for being the One to whom I can cling.

eXALTED ABOVE THE HEAVENS
“For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and
exalted above the heavens;”
Hebrews 7:26
Can you imagine what the disciples felt when Jesus, who had been speaking with them, was all of a sudden “lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight”? (Acts 1:9) I can’t imagine it. I’ve tried. Put yourself in the scene. There you are. Jesus is telling you that you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be His witness. That’s pretty mind boggling in itself. The Holy Spirit is going to come UPON YOU! Before you can get your mind around that, Jesus starts being lifted up. You’re in shock. His feet are literally off the ground. Your head is titled back. You look UP and watch until Jesus is gone…exalted above the heavens.
Lord God, I can’t get my mind around Your majesty and what Your throne room looks like. But, I’m so glad Jesus is with You, exalted above the heavens. I praise You for Your reign of love and peace!

VOICE of AUTHORITY
“And the Lord will cause His voice of authority to be heard,”
Isaiah 30:30
Many ignore God’s voice. Although He speaks to us through the majesty of His creation, some turn from Him and applaud mother nature. He speaks to us through the Bible. Yet, many tune Him out. They leave their Bible on a shelf and never meditate on God’s wisdom. God’s voice goes out through His Spirit. He convicts us of sin. Yet, we often tune Him out and justify our behavior. But one day, God’s voice of authority will go forth and HE WILL CAUSE HIS VOICE TO BE HEARD. Oh, what a day that will be!
Lord, I praise You that one day Your VOICE OF AUTHORITY will be heard by all!

UNCHANGEABLE
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8
Have you ever been with someone who says one thing one day and then changes their mind and says a totally different thing later? The result? You soon begin to doubt what the person says. Your trust wanes. Not so with God. We don’t have to worry if what He told us yesterday is going to be different tomorrow. Don’t you love knowing that if He says we’re saved by grace yesterday, then we’re saved by grace today and forever?
Lord, thank You for being UNCHANGEABLE; for being the same wonderful God that You are yesterday, today, and forever.

TOWER of DELIVERANCE
“He is a tower of deliverance to His king, And shows lovingkindness to His anointed, To David and his descendants forever.”
2 Samuel 22:51
If you’ve never read 2 Samuel 22, read it. David models pouring forth praise in sincerity of heart. In other words, David isn’t praising God because he feel he must, he’s been told to, or he thinks it’s the right thing to do. He’s praising God because he’s overwhelmed with thanksgiving to God. He has SEEN God answer prayers and meet his needs. What is important to us is the last part of verse 51. David reminds us that God isn’t just a tower of deliverance to him, but also to us.
Lord, You are a TOWER OF DELIVERANCE! I praise You with my whole heart!

JAMBALAYA
This recipe is all kinds of delicious! My Mother in law has made Jambalaya before, but I had never made it, at least that I can remember. My husband absolutely LOVES it, so I thought I would give this recipe a shot. I was amazed at how easy it was and how well it turned out. If you need something easy to throw together, this is perfect. It does take an hour in the oven, but has easy prep. One way I made it easier is by using already cooked meats…so I got cocktail shrimp and canned crab…no judgement here…I am all about easy! But, I am sure it would be even better if you freshly cooked the meat. Around here, we were completely and utterly happy and both ate leftovers the next day! SO GOOD! Give it a shot and let me know what you think!

SMELTER
“He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the LORD offerings in righteousness.”
Malachi 3:3
God has a goal: to purge us of sin. Therefore, as a smelter sits before a fire and purges gold and silver of impurities, our Lord purifies us. Our ultimate purification will occur at Christ’s second coming or arrival in heaven. In the meantime, He purifies us as we sit before His Holy Word and open our hearts to His Spirit.
Lord, thank You, SMELTER of my mind, spirit, and soul. I desire to reflect You as gold!

RANSOM
“…Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all,”
1 Timothy 2:6
Did you see the movie, Ransom? Mel Gibson played the dad whose son was kidnapped. The evil kidnappers demanded that Gibson pay a certain price to get his son back. That’s what Jesus did for us. We were captives in the domain of sin’s darkness. (Colossians 1:13) But Jesus paid the ransom price for our liberation: His life.
Lord Jesus, thank you for giving yourself as a RANSOM so that I could be liberated. I love You and praise You!

PEACE GIVER
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”
John 14:27
When I received a letter from M.D. Anderson in 1982 saying I had stage 1A ovarian carcinoma, I was shocked. Then I was sad, grievously sad. I looked at our 2 year old son, Taylor, and couldn’t stand the thought of not being around to raise him. I looked at my dear husband and was broken hearted about not doing “life” with him. I cried. I grieved. Then, God took me to the end of what might happen. I might die. But then, He consoled me. He GAVE ME HIS PEACE. He assured me He would be with Taylor and Keith and that I would be with Him. I personally know Jesus as the PEACE GIVER.
Lord Jesus, PEACE GIVER, You make me smile.
