Living Water
Dry as A Prune or Plump?
“I’m thirsty!” How many times have we said that? Our bodies need water. But, what about our spirits? According to Jesus, they need spiritual water, Living Water, the Holy Spirit.
Listen to Jesus words. “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” John 7:38-39
In these verses, Jesus tells us an important truth. Just as our body needs water, so does our spirit.
Unhappy? Grumpy? Dry as a prune? If so, you could be spiritually thirsty.
Go to your Heavenly Father. Tell Him, “I thirst. I feel spiritually dry.” Ask Him to refresh you. Open your heart and ask Him to fill you to overflowing with His glorious, refreshing, life-giving Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18 reinforces Jesus’ words with the command that believers be filled continually with the Spirit.
So yes, when your body is dry, reach for a glass of water. When your spirit is dry, reach for the Lord’s filling.
Jesus, thank You for giving us the LIVING WATER of Your Spirit who cleanses and refreshes us so we are filled and energized to serve You. We love You, Lord.

Dry as A Prune or Plump?
So we get that our body needs water. But, what about our spirit? According to Jesus it needs spiritual water: Living Water, the Holy Spirit.
If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke of the SPIRIT, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the SPIRIT was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:38
Oh my goodness. This is so exciting and such an important principle. We must not miss it. Just as our body thirsts, so does our spirit. Unhappy? Feeling grumpy? Resentment making your face look dry as a prune? You could be thirsting spiritually. Yes! Go to your Heavenly Father. Tell Him, “I thirst. I feel spiritually dry.” Ask Him to refresh you. Hold your heart up wide and ask Him to fill it to overflowing with His glorious, refreshing, life giving Spirit. Oh, sweet friends, nothing in God’s Word was written in vain. When Ephesians 5:18 tells us to be filled with the Spirit, it’s not joshing around. It’s a vital command that we be filled and keep on being filled with the Spirit. So yes, when your mouth is dry, reach for a glass of water. When your spirit is dry, reach for your Lord. This is a Biblical principle that is Plain. Simple. Truth. Are you plump in the spirit or dry as a prune?
Sweet Jesus, thank You for coming from heaven to speak truth into our lives. Thank You for giving us Your Spirit, LIVING WATER, that cleanses and refreshes us so we are filled and energized to serve You. We love You, Lord.
Plain. Simple. Truth.

“Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. The brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water.”
So we get that our body needs water. But, what about our spirit? It needs spiritual water: Living Water, the Holy Spirit. Jesus explained.
“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Are You Spiritually Dry
Have you ever tried to get something to work to no avail? Recently, I experienced that while trying to get an old Palm Printer to work. I did various things to get it to print and finally decided the roller must be out of ink. However, when I took it out to replace it, I noticed ink all over my fingers. The problem wasn’t a lack of ink. The problem was it was dry due to lack of use. You know, sometimes we can become spiritually dry due to a lack of reading our Bible and praying. What can we do if that happens? We can go to Christ who describes His Spirit in John 7:37-39 as living water that flows in believers. If you’re a Christian, but feel spiritually dry, go to Jesus. Repent of sin that may be blocking the flow of Christ’s Spirit in you. Ask Jesus to fill you with His Spirit. Pour over the words of the Bible and let them pour through you.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the flow of Your Holy Spirit who dwells in us. Fill us with a fresh supply of Your presence so when we’re squeezed, You come out.
Praise to the LIVING WATER
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of LIVING WATER.’
“I’m thirsty!” How many times have we said or thought that? And, if possible, we reach for a drink of water. Our bodies need water. In fact, they’re largely made up of water. The U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Water Science School explains just how important water is to our body:
Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. The brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water.
So we get that our body needs water. But, what about our spirit? It needs water, too; Living Water, the Holy Spirit. Jesus clearly explained this.
If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, “From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'”
But this He spoke of the SPIRIT, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the SPIRIT was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
As water is to the body, so the Holy Spirit is to the soul.
Our body is dead without water. Our spirit is dead without Living Water.
Plain. Simple. Truth. Drink or die.
LIVING WATER, sweet Jesus, thank You for coming from above to speak truth into our lives. Thank You for giving Your Living Holy Spirit to all who turn to You for salvation.
