Survival Tips for a Sane Family
A few of the 75 Pointers from The Plan A Mom in a Plan B World to incorporate into your day. It’s the little things that add up and make a difference.
- Always say “I love you” when you part for the day.
- Apologize if you do something wrong.
- Attend church together.
- Be in the moment with the person you’re with rather than thinking about something else.
- Be responsible. If you say you’re going to do something, do it.
- Be kind to one another.
- Compliment one another.
- Celebrate birthdays and achievements.
- Call if you’re going to be late.
- Do your homework and chores.
- Don’t go to bed angry. Agree, if need be, to continue to discuss differences of opinion the next day; but affirm your love for each other before saying good night.
- Don’t expect others to be perfect; you’re not.
- Don’t demand your way all the time, or insist on always having the last word.
- As often as you can, eat together as a family.
- Eat to be healthy because foods affect moods.
- Everyone has chores. Do them.
- Forgive and extend grace as God has forgiven you.
- Garbage in, garbage out: be careful what you let in.
- Greet each other after work or school and ask about each other’s day.
- Pray together in the mornings before you part for the day.
