Holy Spirit

Plain. Simple. Truth.

07/17/2019
“I’m thirsty!” How many times have we said that? And, if possible, we reach for a drink of water. Our bodies need water. In fact, the U.S. Geological Survey’s Water Science School explains how important water is to our body:

“Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. The brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water.”

So we get that our body needs water. But, what about our spirit? It needs spiritual water: Living Water, the Holy Spirit. Jesus explained.

“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke of the SPIRIT, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the SPIRIT was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.”  John 7:38

As water is to our body, so the Holy Spirit is to our spirit.  Our body needs water. Our spirit needs Living Water. Plain. Simple. Truth. Reach for Him. Drink deeply.

Sweet Jesus, thank You for coming from heaven to speak truth into our lives. Thank You for giving us Your Spirit as LIVING WATER to cleanse and fill us so we can live in Your presence forever.

Overwhelm Us

05/20/2019

Prior to Jesus’s crucifixion, He prepared His disciples for His departure; comforting them that the HOLY SPIRIT would come to them. Can you imagine their confusion? Their frame of reference for the HOLY SPIRIT was God anointing only a few Old Testament people to accomplish divine work on earth. The names Elijah and Elisha certainly came to mind. But them? “Dazed and confused” might have described the disciples as they listened to Jesus tell them about the HOLY SPIRIT. The HOLY SPIRIT would be their Helper. God the Father would send Him in Christ’s name. The HOLY SPIRIT would teach them all things and bring to their remembrance all that Jesus said to them.  The HOLY SPIRIT would empower them to live in such a way they bore witness to Christ. (Acts 1:8)  HOLY. SPIRIT. Isn’t that what God knows each of us needs? So, He sent Him, a who, not an “it,” to live in believers. Are we treating His heavenly presence as a welcomed, Holy guest? Are we asking Him to reign over our lives?  “But the Helper, the HOLY SPIRIT, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.” John 14:26

Heavenly Father,  forgive us for discounting the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Forgive our insolence for living apart from Your divine presence. Fill us. Overwhelm us so Christ pours forth from us to serve others and glorify You.

Is Your Warning Signal On or Off

03/27/2019

LISTEN

Beep Beep. Driving down the highway, my car signaled a warning to me that I had veered from the center of the lane.  I love the beeping feature on my car. What’s interesting though, is I can turn it off. Why would a driver not welcome an alert? Because if they’re veering regularly, that beep can become annoying. When a person becomes a Christian, the Holy Spirit becomes a warning signal in our spirit. We can either welcome His alerts or stop them by choosing to not read our Bibles or pray. What if we crash and want to get back in the center lane of His will? We can pray, ask forgiveness, and read the Bible. We can ask Him to be our guide. Galatians 5:16 says, “Walk by the Spirit.” In other words, walk by God’s prompts and alerts.

Heavenly Father, thank You for “overs” as we learn how to go through our day paying attention to; not ignoring, the warnings of the Holy Spirit. Our heart’s desire is to stay in the center lane of Your will. Teach us. Help us!

Are You Spiritually Dry

03/20/2019

LISTEN

Have you ever tried to get something to work to no avail? Recently, I experienced that while trying to get an old Palm Printer to work. I did various things to get it to print and finally decided the roller must be out of ink. However, when I took it out to replace it, I noticed ink all over my fingers. The problem wasn’t a lack of ink. The problem was it was dry due to lack of use. You know, sometimes we can become spiritually dry due to a lack of reading our Bible and praying. What can we do if that happens? We can go to Christ who describes His Spirit in John 7:37-39 as living water that flows in believers. If you’re a Christian, but feel spiritually dry, go to Jesus. Repent of sin that may be blocking the flow of Christ’s Spirit in you. Ask Jesus to fill you with His Spirit. Pour over the words of the Bible and let them pour through you.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the flow of Your Holy Spirit who dwells in us. Fill us with a fresh supply of Your presence so when we’re squeezed, You come out.

If You’re Worried About Your Future

11/03/2018

Do you know all that God has prepared for you in eternity? The answer is “no, we don’t know.” First Corinthians 2:9 says, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him.”  Does that bless your heart?  Our earthly days may be rough, but God has prepared a future for us beyond our imagination.  The passage continues explaining that no one knows God’s thoughts except God’s Spirit. First Corinthians 2: 10-12 explains:

For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,

Do these verses about the Spirit make you to want to have a deeper understanding of the Holy Spirit and how you can walk by His promptings? If so, I encourage you to get  Listen UP! Praise to the LIVING WATER

07/08/2018

He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of LIVING WATER.’

“I’m thirsty!” How many times have we said or thought that? And, if possible, we reach for a drink of water. Our bodies need water. In fact, they’re largely made up of water. The U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Water Science School explains just how important water is to our body:

Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. The brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water.

So we get that our body needs water. But, what about our spirit? It needs water, too; Living Water, the Holy Spirit. Jesus clearly explained this.

If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, “From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'”

But this He spoke of the SPIRIT, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the SPIRIT was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

As water is to the body, so the Holy Spirit is to the soul.

Our body is dead without water. Our spirit is dead without Living Water.

Plain. Simple. Truth. Drink or die.

LIVING WATER, sweet Jesus, thank You for coming from above to speak truth into our lives. Thank You for giving Your Living Holy Spirit to all who turn to You for salvation.

Praise to the KING of the NATIONS

06/23/2018

Great and marvelous are Your works, O LORD God, the Almighty;

Righteous and true are Your ways,

KING OF THE NATIONS.”

Revelation 15:3

Have you ever received a call from a loved one or friend and been told, “I just prayed to receive Christ?” That happened to me just now and tears of joy are rolling down my checks.

The words I’d previously typed for today won’t do. Instead, I appeal to you to consider that God gave John a glimpse of heaven so he could tell us that it’s real; so each one of us can respond to God’s gift of salvation.

The best visual I know to explain how we will one day be raised following our death is to consider a bulb such as an tulip. The bulb looks dead. Human hands bury it in the ground. But, God created life within the bulb and it rises to a new life in a changed form.

Every person will die.  But, our burial doesn’t mean we will no longer live. God created us with a soul that lives after the body dies. Every soul goes before God.

In Revelation in a scene in heaven, God lets us know that He is the KING OF THE NATIONS; putting to end the belief that it doesn’t matter who you worship as long as you worship something/someone.  It does matter. It matters for your soul.

The soul of the person who rejected God’s gift of salvation through Jesus will appear before God; just as the soul of the person who received God’s gift of salvation will appear before Him. God will honor each person’s response to His gift of salvation. The soul who rejected His gift of life with Him will live eternally apart from Him. The soul of the person who by faith received God’s gift of forgiveness through Jesus will live eternally with Him.  And, if anyone thinks they’ll get a second chance after they die, the Bible clearly explains that is not true.

God’s offer of eternal life with Him through the forgiveness of sins is clear:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whoever believes in Him will not die, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

“Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” Romans 10:11

“WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.” Romans 10:13

If you’e never repented of your sins and called on the name of Jesus for forgiveness, would you now?

Lord, God, KING of the NATIONS, I call on You to save me. I know I’ve sinned. I ask You to forgive me through Jesus’s death on the cross on my behalf. Heavenly Father, please send Your Holy Spirit into my soul and cleanse me. Take away my sins and seal me for eternity with You in heaven. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, God cleaned your soul of your sins and sent His Holy Spirit into it. You can now begin to know your Heavenly Father in a new and special way. You’ll discover that Jesus is God, but also your friend. And, the Holy Spirit is your helper. I want to help you grow in your understanding. Email or call me. I’ll send you my Bible study, Discovering His Passion. Subscribe to this free daily post so you can grow in your understanding of who God is. I’m happy and excited for you. Yes, my eyes are filled with tears of joy for you.

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will he not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32

Thank You, HOLY SPIRIT

05/11/2018

“But the Helper, the HOLY SPIRIT, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”

Prior to Jesus’s crucifixion, He prepared His disciples for His departure; comforting them that the HOLY SPIRIT would come to them. Can you imagine their confusion? Isn’t that what God knows each of us needs? So, He sent Him, a who, not a what, to live in us. Are we treating the heavenly presence who abides in us as a welcomed, Holy guest?

We praise You, God the HOLY SPIRIT, sent in Christ’s name, to be with us forever.
