 “And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

Do you need help? Do you wish there was someone you could talk to; who could advise you? If so, Jesus is your “go to” Counselor, and He’s wonderful! How does He counsel us? He counsels us in prayer. He counsels us through the promptings of our heart. He counsels us in the Bible through His teachings and by His example. For instance, in Matthew 15:32-38, there appeared to be a huge problem – 4,000 + people who had been listening to Jesus teach all day were hungry, and there was no food. Did Jesus wring His holy hands? Did Jesus become hopeless? No. Instead, Jesus asked the disciples how many loaves of bread they had. They replied seven and a few small fish. Jesus “took the seven loaves and the fish; and giving thanks, He broke them and ….” You know the rest of the story. Jesus THANKED His Heavenly Father for what He had in His hands. He acted in faith with what was in His hands. Did you know that thanking God for what we have rather than bemoaning what we don’t have is powerful?

If you’re struggling with a downcast spirit, start recording each 365 attribute of God. This morning I re-read in praise each attribute beginning with January 1. I was reminded of how wonderful and big our Lord is.  I love recording in Prayers of My Heart that He CONTENDS FOR me. SO … how about your COUNSELOR? He is worthy of our praise!

Jesus, thank You, wonderful COUNSELOR, for always being there.

Chaos. Devastation. War. Destruction. Loss. Pain. Suffering.

Why is it that we’re surprised by them? Why do they feel so wrong? Why is it that everything in our being resists them? The answer is because God created us in His image and He is the Prince of Peace.  We resist because we live on earth where Satan is the prince of the power of the air.  We resist because we live in a world where there is devastation brought on by the ruler of this world.

What can we do? We can steady our eyes on the hope set before us. The Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus, is returning in the clouds. The believer’s eternal home is with Him. We can pray that His Holy Spirit fill our spirit with peace. We can rest in the knowledge that while Satan rules the world, Jesus rules over us. We can live as Christ’s lights in the world. We can offer Christ’s peace to others.

This salads presentation is as fancy as it’s name, and it is so satisfying to the taste buds as well. I mean it is GOOD! This was a side at the Hill Country Ministries’ Open House and many people asked what all was in it and which recipe it was. This would be a fabulous salad to make for Christmas or sometime during the holidays! Hopefully you will try this super easy recipe that is is oh so great!

SPINACH WALDORF SALAD WITH CREAMY APPLE DRESSING Pg. 178

1/2 cup mayonnaise                                                        

2 TBS frozen apple juice concentrate

1/4 tsp cinnamon

2 cups red apples, cored and cubed

2 cups red seedless grapes, halved

1/2 cup chopped celery

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

4 cups torn spinach

In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, juice concentrate, and cinnamon; blend well. Add the apples, grapes, celery, and walnuts; toss to coat. Chill spinach and apple mixture until ready to serve. Just before serving, place the spinach in a large salad bowl. Spoon apple mixture over spinach and toss to coat the spinach with the dressing.

“The United States has intercepted an order from an Iranian official instructing militants in Iraq to attack U.S. interests in Baghdad in the event….”  “Group opposition to attack…. ”  “Supporters of attack argue….” PEACE. WILL IT EVER COME? Reread Isaiah 9:6. Is there anyone on whom the government can rest and who will bring about peace? Yes, the Prince of Peace. Keep your eyes heavenward, friends, in praise Him who is returning in the clouds. 

Lord Jesus, PRINCE OF PEACE, what a glorious day it will be when we see YOU returning in the clouds, just as You said You would! You will bring Peace, for You are THE PRINCE OF PEACE! All praise to You!
