Matthew 28:6

Jesus Is Coming!

12/05/2024

I love to gaze at the glory of the moon. Do you? When we do, we are looking at something God created that is. It exists today.

However the moon was created by God in eternity past.

The moon that was created in eternity past and exists today is also set to rise in the night sky tomorrow and in future nights. Although it appears in different phases, it is still the same moon.

If the moon is the same moon in the past, present, and future; why would anyone doubt that Jesus was, is, and is to come?

Yes, at Christmas we celebrate the Lord who came in the past in the appearance of a baby. Luke 2:7

At Easter we celebrate the Lord who rose from the grave. Matthew 28:6

Now, we watch for Christ who promised to come again. John 14:3

We can be assured, as Revelation 1:4 states, Jesus is, “He who is and who was, and who is to come…”

Think about it. Jesus is coming again! Are you ready to meet Him?

Lord Jesus, WHO IS, WHO WAS, AND WHO IS TO COME, I praise You and look with anticipation to Your return. Quicken me to faithfully serve You as I watch and wait.

Gentle Boldness

Empty tomb

Several years ago the world was sickened by the confirmation that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi had been confirmed dead after being tortured in a Saudi consulate. Can you, would you, expect to see him walking around and eating with family and friends after his death was confirmed? No, of course not. Does that help us better grasp why people didn’t believe that Jesus was alive after they witnessed His torturous scourging and crucifixion?

Matthew 28:6  gives the shocking angelic announcement to Mary as she stood outside Jesus’ empty tomb. “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.” In addition to Mary and the disciples seeing the resurrected Christ, more than 500 eyewitnesses saw Jesus after His resurrection.

The grave couldn’t hold Jesus because He is life. He gives eternal life to everyone who acknowledges they are a sinner and asks forgiveness in His name. People are dying every day because of natural causes, disease, and senseless evil random shootings. None of us know when the life of our family, friends, and neighbors will end. It is time for us to be bold and lovingly ask those who are unsaved, “Do you know where you will be when you die?” “Gentle Boldness” is the title of one of my chapters in Discovering His Passion. Prepare yourself to share Christ with others.

Jesus, RISEN LORD, we celebrate You – the giver of eternal life. Help us gently, but boldly share You with others.

We Want Proof and We Have It

Last year the world was sickened and shocked by the horrifying confirmation that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi had been confirmed dead after being tortured in a Saudi consulate.  Can you, would you, expect to see him walking around and eating with family and friends after confirmation of his death? No, of course not. Does that help better grasp why people didn’t believe Jesus was alive after they had seen His torturous scourging and crucifixion? Come, see the place where He was lying.” In addition to Mary and the disciples seeing the resurrected Christ, more than  500 eye witnesses saw Jesus after His resurrection from the dead. The grave couldn’t hold Jesus because He is life. He breathes His eternal life into everyone who acknowledges they are a sinner and asks forgiveness in His, the RISEN ONE’s name. With whom might we share this good news?

The world is sickened and in shock by the horrifying confirmation that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who walked into a Saudi consulate on October 2, has been confirmed dead after being tortured.  Can you, would you, expect to see him walking around and eating with his friends after confirmation of his tragic death? No, of course not. Does that help you in any way better grasp why people didn’t believe that Jesus was alive after they witnessed His torturous scourging and merciless crucifixion? Matthew 28:6  gives the shocking angelic announcement of Jesus’s resurrection to Mary as she stood outside Jesus’s empty tomb. “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.” In addition to Mary and the disciples, more than  500 eye witnesses saw the Risen Christ. The grave couldn’t hold Jesus because He is life. He breathes His eternal life into each person who acknowledges they are a sinner and asks forgiveness in the RISEN ONE’s name.

RISEN LORD, we celebrate Your victory over death and worship You.

RISEN LORD

09/18/2013

“He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.”

Matthew 28:6

We know the story well. It’s preached at Easter. But think how it must have sounded to the first person to whom it was told. First the acknowledgement that Jesus had died: “I know you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.” (v 5)  Then, the shocking announcement that the grave couldn’t contain Jesus. Death couldn’t hold Him. THAT is the ONE we worship. The RISEN ONE. To worship any other is idolatrous.

RISEN LORD, I celebrate You and Your victory over death!
