Romans 4:21
Praise to God Who is ABLE
“and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was ABLE also to perform.'”
Recently, I wandered into a kickboxing class. I’d been eyeing it from across the room where I participated in another class. I kept watching the instructor and felt sure I wasn’t able to keep up with her.
Lots of people promise things. Sometimes we boast that we can get something done by a certain time or in a certain way, and then we can’t.
Imagine having full confidence that when someone says something, they’re able to deliver. Well, we have that in God. If He says it, it’s good as done.
Abraham had that confidence in God. He believed God was able to do what He promised. He believed in God’s power.
If we’re struggling with something, it’s good to remember that God is ABLE. He’s able to do what we can’t do. He’s able to keep His promises. And that’s why we praise Him!
Praise to the Promise Keeper
“being fully assured that what God had PROMISED, He was able also to perform.”
Have you ever promised something and then couldn’t or didn’t fulfill your promise? If you have, you know what a horrible feeling it is. Maybe we promised, “I’ll never say that again.” Then we did. Or, we may have said to ourselves or even to God, “I promise. If you’ll get me out of this mess, I’ll never do that again.” Or, “I’ll do better next time.” But, we failed to keep our promise. Or, maybe it’s hard for you to trust people because they’ve made promises to you that they didn’t keep. However, when it comes to God, we can be fully assured that what He promises, He is able to do and will do. For many, these are scary days. Natural disasters, war, disease, and civil unrest can make us feel unsure of where we can turn and who we can trust. If we’re feeling a little off base or unsure of what the future holds, it would be a good time to open our Bibles and reread God’s promises. His are the ones we know are sure and true.
Heavenly Father, in our changing world that is filled with civil unrest, disease, and disasters, we praise You that You are faithful to keep Your promises and that You are able to do what You promise. Our trust rests in You, Lord.
Praise to the Lord who PERFORMS WHAT HE PROMISES
“being fully assured that what God had promised, He was ABLE ALSO TO PERFOM IT.”
Many boast of what they can or will do. However, we are well aware that often people do not perform according to their promises. BUT GOD DOES. What He promises, He performs. You and I can have full confidence in God; just like Abraham did; who looked at his body and at Sarah. They were past the age to bear a child. But God had promised them a child, and assured them that what He promised, He was able to perform. God fulfilled His promise to Abraham and Sarah. He’ll fulfill His promises to us.
Lord God, You are able to PERFORM WHAT YOU PROMISE. What confidence and joy I have in You!

PERFORMS WHAT HE PROMISES
“being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.”
Many boast of what they or their product can do. “Buy this car. It outperforms all others.” However, we are well aware that often products and people do not perform according to their promises. BUT GOD DOES. Whatever He promises, He performs. You and I can have full confidence in God; just like Abraham did. He looked at his body and at Sarah. They were past childbearing ages. But God had promised them a child and he was fully assured that what God had promised, He was able to perform.
Lord God, You are able to PERFORM WHAT YOU PROMISE. What confidence and joy I have in You!
