BREAD OF LIFE

“I am the bread of life.”

John 6:48

Are you hungry? Is there a gnawing within you? Do you feel that something is missing; that no matter what you do, purchase, or where you go, there’s still a yearning for someone or something? Do you seek to fill that emptiness, but it returns? Jesus describes Himself as the BREAD of LIFE. Just like we need “daily bread” for our bodies, so we need Jesus daily for our spirits. An initial receiving of Christ as our Savior is but the beginning of our being filled.  Why not make it a practice to “graze” on Christ’s life? Taste of Him in your Bible reading in the morning. Eat of Him with a Scripture during the day. Read a Bible verse at night. Rather than live a yearning life, live a thriving one.

Lord Jesus, we praise You, BREAD OF LIFE! Thank You for turning our yearning into satisfaction as we meditate on You.

  1. An easy way to "be filled" with Christ in the morning is to take the daily 365 DAYs of PRAISE verse you're receiving and open your Bible to the passage where it is found. Read the verse in context. (the verses before and after that one verse) Doing so will give you a fuller "meal" to kick off your day.

When you feel an anxious gnawing or emptiness during the day, think on Christ's attribute and feast your mind on a handful of His other ones. Can you recall the ones from last week? If not, open your Prayers of My Heart prayer journal as you would open a bag of chips. Then munch on the fullness of who Christ is! You won't gain weight, and you'll discover that Christ is your emotional and mental sustenance.
