COMPASSIONATE
“Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth.”
Exodus 34:6
Do you work with someone who isn’t very compassionate? Or, perhaps, you’re going through a tough time and could use a little compassion from a family member or friend; yet they’re anything BUT compassionate. The Hebrew root word from which “compassion” is derived means “to love deeply, have mercy, be compassionate, have tender affection.” It describes God’s compassion for you. So, in the absence of human compassion, be assured that God deeply loves you.
LORD, thank You for deeply loving me. I praise You, COMPASSIONATE LORD!

The image that comes to my mind is Jesus, the darling of Heaven, coming to earth, to live a humble life in the midst of sinful men and women, some searching for God, some prideful thinking they already know all about God and able to judge and point fingers at others. The image I see is Jesus holding onto us, teaching us to love, feeling our sorrow and confusion and pain, and gently teaching us about Himself and how to love Him and all people. The message God has been teaching me is to love people, not just "the masses", but the individuals I see.
My son seems to have people around him all the time who are not courteous or kind…in fact they are extreemly rude. He always strives to be courteous and kind wherever he goes. He is feeling discouraged. I've always thought…what goes around comes around, but in his case he has had more than his share of mean spirited, prideful, obnoxious people to deal with even though he treats them kindly and fairly. I tell him, "God loves you and will never forsake you. He knows what it feels like to be rejected and treated rudely and unfairly more than anyone else and is very compassionate toward you. " But, my son says he just doesn't feel it. My heart goes out to him. I want him to feel the encouragement of Jesus. What is God wanting to teach my son? He has received Jesus into his heart at one point as his Savior, but in his discouragement, he is not in the word that much and is not going to church….so maybe this is the reason why he is not feeling Christ in his life. I so want him to feel the love of our Lord.
