365 Days of Praise
Praise to the CHAMPION
“It will become a sign and a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the Lord because of oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Champion, and He will deliver them.”
Have you ever given your best effort at something, but failed? On the other hand, have you ever won a competition and been named the champion? Even the most humble of people want to win. We want to be on the winning team. Good news is in store for all who love and follow Christ. He is the Champion of the World! He’s the winner. If you’re on Christ’s side, you’re on the right side. The victory is coming. It’s going to happen. And you’ll be part of the celebration!
LORD, You are the CHAMPION over all! We praise You!
Thank You, CARING LORD
“casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”
What do you do with worry? How do you respond when you get a bad diagnosis? To whom do you turn in the middle of the night when you’re afraid or sad? It’s normal to sometimes feel anxious, despair, and worry. But what Jesus wants us to know is that He’s with us. And, He cares for us. Just like a person casts a fishing line into the water, we can cast our anxiety on Jesus. He will see us through whatever we’re going through – one moment at a time.
LORD, thank You for being a CARING LORD on whom we can cast our anxiety!
Praise to the CAPTAIN of the HOSTS
“…. ‘I indeed come now as CAPTAIN OF THE HOSTS of the Lord.’
And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, ‘What has my lord to say to his servant?’ The CAPTAIN OF THE LORD’S HOSTS said to Joshua, ‘Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.’ And Joshua did so.”
Do you have a whopper of a problem? Perhaps you’re even where the Lord has led you, but the situation seems more than you can handle. When Joshua found himself in a tough place, the Lord appeared to him as Captain of the Lord’s host. Joshua bowed down and said, “What has my lord to say to his servant?” The Lord told Joshua that the place he was standing was holy ground; then told him what to do. Isn’t that the position each of us needs to take; one of asking our Lord to speak to us and tell us what to do? Let’s be wise, listen, and obey. If we do, the enemy will not defeat us.
CAPTAIN of the HOSTS, we bow before You and praise You. Speak to our heart and mind. Tell us what to do.
Thank You, God, for CALLIng into BEING what doesn’t exist.
“God, who gives life to the dead and CALLS INTO BEING that which does not exist.”
Have you ever felt a person was “hopeless;” that they would never believe in Jesus and be saved? If so, be encouraged. Nothing is hopeless or impossible with God. He’s in the business of bringing life to the dead and calling into being that which does not exist. Call to Him. Continue to pray for the one whose situation seems hopeless.
Lord Jesus, You are a great and awesome God who gives life to the dead and CALLS INTO BEING THAT WHICH DOES NOT EXIST. We give You praise, honor, and glory!
Thank you, Lord, BUILDER of ALL THINGS
“For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.”
Sometimes when we look at our lives, jobs, situation, or relationships, we might feel discouraged or hopeless. “I don’t see any way out of this,” we might say. Or we might think, “The best of times is over.” However, that’s when we need to take another glance – an upward one and remember who God is. He is the one who engineered the heavens. He is the brain behind chromosomes. If He can build the heavens and our bodies, I’m pretty sure He can reconstruct what is broken in our lives. Turn to the Builder of All Things and ask Him to build His kingdom in your life.
LORD, we Praise You and submit our life to You, the BUILDER OF ALL THINGS!
Praise to the BRIGHT MORNING STAR
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the BRIGHT MORNING STAR.”
Many people attempt to rise to “stardom.” But no one, not even the most famous comes close to Jesus; who explains to us that HE is the STAR of all stars. If we’re searching for the way, we do well to keep our eyes on Him.
Lord, we praise You, the BRIGHT MORNING STAR.
*How have you experienced Jesus as your “Bright Morning Star”?
This is one of God’s 365 attributes for which we can look up, praise, and trust Him. To learn about His other attributes and ways you can know God and praise Him, join us HERE.
Praise to the BRIDEGROOM
“Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.”
Each of the gospels refers to Jesus as the BRIDEGROOM of the church. Righteous jealousy over our chasteness, nourishing and cherishing us, wooing us to be faithful, and sacrificing to save us is but the tip of Christ’s love for us. One day our Bridegroom will return. Will He find us clean and spotless or tarnished by sin?
Lord Jesus, thank You for loving us and sacrificing Your life to save us so that we would be cleansed, a pure spotless bride.
Thank You, BREAD of LIFE
“I am the BREAD OF LIFE.”
Are you hungry? Is there a gnawing within you? Do you feel that something is missing? That no matter what you do, purchase, or where you go, there’s still a yearning for someone or something? Do you seek to fill that emptiness, but it returns? Jesus describes Himself as the BREAD of LIFE. Just like we need “daily bread” for our bodies, so we need Jesus each day for our spirits. An initial receiving of Christ as our Savior is but the beginning of our being filled. Why not make it a practice to “graze” on Christ throughout the day? Begin each morning chewing on the Word. Eat of Him with a Scripture during the day. Read His Words at night before you go to sleep. Rather than live a yearning life, live a thriving one.
Lord Jesus, we praise You, BREAD OF LIFE! Thank You for turning our yearning into satisfaction as we meditate on You.
Thank You, Jesus, BRANCH of the LORD
“‘Behold, the days are coming,’ declares the Lord, when I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.’”
Have you ever had something growing in your yard and you didn’t know if it was a flower or a weed? That’s happened to me. The same can sometimes be said of a person. They’re in our life. They seem to be a good person, but later you find out they aren’t who they appeared to be.
The same can happen with people and books that make spiritual promises. If they’re not rooted in Christ, the initial flowery show will eventually be found to be false.
The prophet, Jeremiah, announces that there is one righteous BRANCH and that is Jesus Christ. He’s the one in whom believers are grafted and through whom we live and bear spiritual fruit.
BRANCH of the LORD, who lives forever, thank You for giving us genuine, true, eternal life in You.
Praise to Our BOUNTIFUL LORD
“They will come and shout for joy on the height of Zion,
And they will be radiant over the bounty of the Lord—
…
And their life will be like a watered garden,
And they will never languish again.
Have you walked through an unwatered garden? The plants are wilted. The leaves are yellow. Little or no fruit can be found. Stroll out of that garden and into a well watered garden; one loved by the owner. What do you notice? Flowers and fruit abound. The gardener has held nothing back in order to care for each plant. When we consider whom our Lord is who reigns on high, be assured, HE is BOUNTIFUL in His love, care, and goodness.
Heavenly Father, we praise You, BOUNTIFUL Lord!
