1 Peter 5:7

How Not to Go Crazy with Anxiety

02/08/2024

A few years ago, during the height of Covid, my morning started off peacefully. However, after my quiet time and while scanning the news, I became increasingly anxious as I read an article that listed 98 symptoms of Covid.

An increasing number of concerns are causing anxiety to rise. Disease, war, political turmoil, gender identity, hate crimes, poverty as well as new threats such as AI (artificial intelligence).

What is important for us to remember is that Jesus is with us, He cares for us, and doesn’t want us to carry our anxiety. He tells us in 1 Peter 5:7, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”

Did we get that? Jesus cares for us. He tells us to cast our anxiety on Him. He can handle it. Just like a fisherman casts his net on the water, we are to cast our anxieties on Jesus.

What are you anxious about today? Knowing that Jesus cares for you, will you cast your anxiety on Him?

Jesus, thank You for CARING for me. Thank You that I can cast my anxiety on You; that You will take it and help me.

How Not to Go Crazy with Anxiety

02/06/2022

A few years ago, my morning started off peacefully. 5:30 am with God has a tendency to do that. After my quiet time and while scanning emails and news stories, however, I almost came to the conclusion that I’d unknowingly had Covid or might have gotten Covid the day before or maybe two days before. Or maybe I shouldn’t get the vaccine in case I had unknowingly had Covid recently because someone told me you could get really sick if you didn’t wait 3 months to get the vaccine after having it. I had no idea if that was true. However, after reading the article that listed 98 SYMPTOMS of Covid, I began to wonder if I had it. My eyes had been a little red one day last week and that was one of the symptoms. I had dismissed the redness as allergies, but you never know. Okay, I think you get my point. Everyone could probably identify as having had one of 98 symptoms of anything and go into a frenzy if they are the worrying type, which thank goodness I’m not. However, understandably, Covid has caused an increase in anxiety in our nation and world and if not because of Covid, you may have stressed over politics or any number of other issues. It is normal to feel anxious when our loved ones are ill or when family or financial problems arise.  What’s important for us to remember in stressful times is that Jesus is with us and cares for us. He doesn’t want us to go crazy with worry. He wants us to cast all our anxiety on Him as 1 Peter 5:7 clearly states. Yes, just like a person casts a fishing line into the water, we can cast our anxiety on Jesus knowing that He cares for us and will see us through every day. If you’re feeling anxious, cast your anxiety on Him right now.  Tell Him your anxious thoughts. He loves you, is listening, and He is ever present to comfort you. By the way, did you know that your prayers ascend to God as a fragrant offering? That information along with a lot of other wonderful truths is in the book of Revelation, which is why I hope you’ll join me for my study, End Times:  What You Should Know, What You Can Do.” Learn how you can participate by email.

Jesus, thank You for being a CARING LORD on whom we can cast our anxiety! Comfort all those who are suffering. Bring healing and strength to caregivers. We love You and thank You for caring for us.

How Not to Go Crazy with Anxiety

It started as a peaceful morning. 5:30 am alone with God has a tendency to do that. After my quiet time and while scanning emails and news stories, however, I almost came to the conclusion that I’d unknowingly had Covid or might have gotten Covid the day before or maybe two days before. Or, maybe I shouldn’t get the vaccine in case I had unknowingly had Covid recently because someone told me you could get really sick if you didn’t wait 3 months to get the vaccine after having it. I have no idea if that’s true. However, after reading the article that listed 98 SYMPTOMS people who have had Covid have had could make anyone wonder. Scanning 98 symptoms can tend to make one pause. My eyes had been a little red one day last week and that was one of the symptoms. I had dismissed the redness as allergies, but you never know. Okay, I think you get my point. Everyone could probably identify as having had one of the 98 symptoms and go into a frenzy if they are the worrying type, which thank goodness I’m not. However, understandably, Covid has caused an increase in anxiety in our nation and world and if not because of Covid, you may have stressed over politics or any number of other issues. It is normal to feel anxious when our loved ones are ill or when family or financial problems arise.  What’s important for us to know in stressful times is that Jesus is with us and cares for us. He doesn’t want us to go crazy with worry. He wants us to cast all our anxiety on Him as 1 Peter 5:7 clearly states. Yes, just like a person casts a fishing line into the water, we can cast our anxiety on Jesus knowing that He cares for us and will see us through each moment each day. If you’re feeling anxious, cast your anxiety on Him right now.  Tell Him your anxious thoughts. He loves you, is listening, and He is ever present to comfort you, sweet friend.

Jesus, thank You for being a CARING LORD on whom we can cast our anxiety! Comfort with a comfort that only You can give all those who are suffering with Covid right now or who have lost a loved one to Covid. Bring healing to those suffering and strength to all the care givers. We love You and thank You for caring for us.

How Are You?

09/25/2020

How are you today? If I asked that in passing, you’d probably say, “Fine. And you?” I might answer, “Fine.” Or, “Doing great!” However, often, we aren’t fine. It’s not that we’re intending to lie when we reply. Rather, it’s a societal politeness. “How are you?” And, “how are you?” With those with whom we’re close, however, we share how we really are. We may say, “I’m sick of quarantining.” Or, “I’m really concerned about…..” If you’re wishing you had someone to confide in, remember that you do. Jesus is more than a God to worship. He’s a God who counts you worthy to die for and most certainly worthy to listen to. When we read in 1 Peter 5:7, “He cares for you,” that’s not a platitude. It’s our Heavenly Father letting us in on a little, no a big secret. Our wonderful Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ care for you. Talk to them. Tell them the secrets of your heart.

Thank You, Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ for caring for us. Thank You that we can talk to you about any and everything. Thank You that You listen and respond. We love you.

When You’re Filled with Anxiety

02/12/2020

What do you do with worry? How do you respond when you get a bad diagnosis? To whom do you turn in the middle of the night when you’re afraid or sad?  It’s normal to feel anxious, despair, and worry when our loved ones are ill or problems arise. But what Jesus wants us to know is that He’s with us and He cares for us. First Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all our anxiety on Jesus because He cares for us.  Just like a person casts a fishing line into the water, we can cast our anxiety on Jesus knowing that He cares for us and will see us through what we’re experiencing. How about casting your anxiety on Him right now in the form of a prayer. Tell Him all your anxious thoughts. Listen for how He prompts you to go forward.

Jesus, thank You for being a CARING LORD on whom we can cast our anxiety!
