2 Peter 1:17

When You Can’t Seem to Please Anyone

08/01/2023

Listen

Do you ever feel like you can’t please anyone? Or, at least you can’t please someone you want to please? Maybe it’s a co-worker, spouse, parent, child, or friend. You do your best, but it seems they’re never satisfied. Trying to please people who are never pleased can cause us to feel defeated and drained. Unless we keep in mind that we can’t please everybody, and we focus on pleasing the most important person – our Heavenly Father. Jesus models doing that, even when others were disappointed in Him. For instance, the disciples were no doubt shockingly disappointed when Jesus didn’t resist being crucified. Martha and Mary were disappointed when Jesus delayed coming to their sick brother’s side. John 8:29 explains Jesus’s position. “He (the Father) who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.” No, we can’t always please others. But we can follow Christ’s example of pleasing our Heavenly Father.

Following are some of the ways Jesus pleased the Father. Which are you already doing? Which do you want to begin doing?

  • Jesus used Scripture to stand against Satan’s temptations. We can do that.
  • Jesus shared His Father’s kingdom principles, how to be forgiven, and how to be saved. We can do that.
  • Jesus was sensitive to others and reached out to them. We can do that.
  • Jesus looked up in prayer and thanked His Father for hearing Him. We can do that.
  • Jesus prayed before He made decisions. We can do that.
  • Jesus followed His Father’s leading rather than doing things on His own initiative. We can do that.

Heavenly Father, as Jesus was well-pleasing to You, help us please You.

I Can’t Wait!

07/01/2023

Have you ever looked forward to something and then it didn’t turn out to be as great as you expected? Are you looking forward to something now and hoping it won’t disappoint? Whichever might be the case, there is something to which you can look forward that will definitely not disappoint you. In fact, it will exceed your expectations. What is it? The day you see God the Father and Son in their glory.  The apostle Peter described his earthly glimpse of Jesus’s glory at the Mount of Transfiguration. It was so astounding the word “glory” simply wouldn’t do so Peter referred to his experience in God’s presence as MAJESTIC GLORY.

when He (Jesus) received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the MAJESTIC GLORY, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased” (2 Peter 1:17)

We will one day see, hear, and experience what Peter saw, heard, and experienced – God, the MAJESTIC GLORY, and His Son.  Are you ready? Are you excited? I can’t wait!

Heavenly Father, MAJESTIC GLORY, we can’t wait to be in Your presence. Thank You for this eternal opportunity! We love and praise You.

We Can’t Wait!

Friends, My husband, Keith, is having a 3 level spinal lumbar fusion at 7:30 am tomorrow (Tuesday 7/7). He has been in tons of pain. Would you please pray for the doctor’s wisdom and precision, and for caring, attentive nurses and aids to attend to him? I’m sad that I have to drop him off at the door and can’t be with him, but unbelievable grateful to the Lord that Keith can go ahead and have the surgery tomorrow and it not be postponed. Please pray for full and complete healing and quick recovery. Thank you so much!

Is there anything you look forward to and can’t wait to happen?  Have you ever looked forward to something and then it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be?  If so, here’s something to look forward to that will not disappoint. The day you see what Peter describes as not just “majestic,” but MAJESTIC GLORY.  It’s the best Peter could do to describe his experience of being with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration “when He (Jesus) received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the MAJESTIC GLORY, ‘This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased’—” (2 Peter 1:17) What Peter saw and heard, we will one day see and hear – God, the MAJESTIC GLORY.  Are you ready? Praise to the Majestic GLORY

06/29/2016

“when He (Jesus) received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the MAJESTIC GLORY, ‘This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased’—”

This is NOT the same as yesterday’s Majestic Lord. Today we’re broadening our wonder and worship of God the Father. When Peter referred to his experience of being with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, “majestic” wasn’t enough to describe hearing the Heavenly Father’s voice. “Glory” didn’t suffice. “Majestic Glory” – was the best Peter could do to describe his experience. What Peter heard and saw, we will one day hear and see – our Heavenly Father, the MAJESTIC GLORY.

Heavenly Father, MAJESTIC GLORY, what a glorious day it will be to hear Your voice and worship You.

MAJESTIC GLORY

08/21/2013

“For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, ‘This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased’—”

2 Peter 1:17

I can’t imagine being Peter, Christ’s disciple. The burly fisherman originally thought Jesus was just another man. Then, Peter witnessed Jesus perform miracles and was moved to understand that Jesus was God’s Son, the Messiah. What a crowning moment it must have been when Peter witnessed Jesus’ transfiguration and heard God the Father, the MAJESTIC GLORY, speak.

Heavenly Father, MAJESTIC GLORY, what a day it will be to one day hear Your voice and worship You in Your kingdom.
