PRINCE of PEACE

09/09/2013

“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

   Isaiah 9:6

“The United States has intercepted an order from an Iranian official instructing militants in Iraq to attack U.S. interests in Baghdad in the event….”  “Group opposition to attack…. ”  “Supporters of attack argue….” PEACE. WILL IT EVER COME? Reread Isaiah 9:6. Is there anyone on whom the government can rest and who will bring about peace? Yes, the Prince of Peace. Keep your eyes heavenward, friends, in praise Him who is returning in the clouds.

Lord Jesus, PRINCE OF PEACE, what a glorious day it will be when we see YOU returning in the clouds, just as You said You would! You will bring Peace, for You are THE PRINCE OF PEACE! All praise to You!

PRIEST

09/08/2013

“Therefore, He (Jesus) had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”

   Hebrews 2:17

Have you ever longed for a way to be exonerated and released from your sin; rather than it weighing you down as if you were carrying a corpse of guilt on your back? If so, please recognize that Jesus is more than your friend. He is your high priest. That means that upon His death He entered the holiest of holies – God’s presence and offered the sacrifice of His blood to atone for and cover your sins. There is no need for or point in you carrying guilt. Your high priest has completed His work on your behalf. You are free.

Lord Jesus, I praise You, my Lord and high PRIEST! Thank You for absolving me of my sin and the weight of the guilt of my sin. I love You and praise You!

PERFORMS WHAT HE PROMISES

09/06/2013

“being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.”

   Romans 4:21

Many boast of what they or their product can do. “Buy this car. It outperforms all others.” However, we are well aware that often products and people do not perform according to their promises. BUT GOD DOES. Whatever He promises, He performs. You and I can have full confidence in God; just like Abraham did. He looked at his body and at Sarah. They were past childbearing ages. But God had promised them a child and he was fully assured that what God had promised, He was able to perform

Lord God, You are able to PERFORM WHAT YOU PROMISE. What confidence and joy I have in You!

PERFECTOR

09/05/2013

“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.”

   1 Peter 5:10

I love knowing God is the One who will PERFECT me! I could never do it on my own. But knowing that HE has taken it upon Himself to perfect me, gives me confidence and joy. What about you? Does looking heavenward at the PERFECTOR of your soul encourage you and cause you to praise Him?

Lord God, thank You for not only calling me to Your eternal glory in Christ, but for also taking it upon Yourself to PERFECT me. I love You and give You praise!

OUTSTRETCHED ARM

09/04/2013

“‘Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You,’”

   Jeremiah 32:17

When you think of God, how do you view Him? Is He in heaven with His arms crossed and a scowl on His face? Or, is He snoozing while we go about our day? In Jeremiah 32, the Lord God is portrayed as having an OUTSTRETCHED ARM. He make the heavens by His outstretched arm. He delivered the Jews from Egyptian bondage by His outstretched arm. He brought them into the land of Israel by His outstretched arm. (21-22) In other words, the Lord God is not uninterested or asleep. He’s actively engaged in the affairs of mankind! And nothing is too difficult for Him! Keep praying and watching!

Lord GOD, You have acted by Your OUTSTRETCHED ARM and continue to act. I praise You!

OVERCOMER

09/03/2013

“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

   John 16:33

Our personal problems can seem overwhelming at times. National and international problems may cause us to shake our heads and wonder “what the world is coming to.” But Jesus interrupts our conflicted worries and gets straight to the point. In the world, we’re going to have tribulation, which means “pressure, affliction, oppression, and distress.” Then, He says the most amazing thing. He’s bigger than the world. He’s OVERCOME it. And that is why He invites us to take His hand and take His peace.

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the OVERCOMER. I praise You for the peace You give me when I look heavenward and trust You.

OUR FATHER

09/02/2013

“‘Pray, then, in this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.’”

   Matthew 6:9

Did you have a good father, a bad father, or one that falls somewhere in between? Of the many ways in which Jesus could have told us to address God in prayer, He chose, “OUR FATHER.” In verses 6-14, Jesus tells us OUR FATHER sees us. Our FATHER rewards sacrificial effort that no one sees. Our FATHER knows what we need before we ask. Our FATHER forgives us as we forgive others. Regardless of what kind of earthly father we had, we have One in heaven who is holy, set apart, and listening as we pray.

Join me today in praying the Lord’s Prayer in worship and praise to OUR FATHER.

OMEGA

09/01/2013

“’I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.’”

   Revelation 1:8

Do you ever wonder what is going to happen in our world? If you know your Bible, it is both comforting and sobering to realize that the end of the world, as we know it, is approaching. What comfort do we have as wars and rumors of war continue? Our comfort is that at the end, our Lord God, the Omega, will be there. We won’t be alone.

Lord God, You are the Alpha and OMEGA, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. I praise You!

If you have Prayers of My Heart prayer journal, take time today to go through it and highlight or record ways God answered your prayers last week. It will encourage your heart and be a sweet time of fellowship with the Lord.

OMNIPOTENT

08/31/2013

“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.

  1 Chronicles 29:11

God is omnipotent. He is all powerful. We can confidently place our trust in Him as the ultimate, all powerful, omnipotent Lord God of the universe. Why not use the words of praise in 1 Chronicles 29:11 to express your praise to God this morning?

Lord, You are the OMNIPOTENT God! I praise You and give You glory……

OMNIPRESENT

08/30/2013

“’For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.’”

  Matthew 18:20

“I AM THERE.” How can Jesus be in the midst of your prayer group and “there” in the midst of mine, also? The answer is because He is omnipresent – present everywhere at the same time. Isn’t it remarkable? Not until heaven will we fully understand the spiritual world. In the meantime, we can stand in awe of God. And, we can rest assured that when we are gathered in Jesus’ name, He is in our midst. Amazing!

Lord, You are the OMNIPRESENT God! I stand in awe of You and give You praise.
