BRANCH of the LORD

06/15/2013

“‘Behold, the days are coming,’ declares the Lord, When I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.’”

Jeremiah 23:5

Have you ever looked at a plant that appeared to be dead and then found there was a new green shoot? It wasn’t dead! It was alive. Many say that God is dead. But He isn’t. One day, all will acknowledge the Lord Jesus Christ, the Branch of the Lord!

I praise You, Lord Jesus Christ, BRANCH of the LORD!

BOUNTIFUL GOD

06/14/2013

“They will come and shout for joy on the height of Zion,

And they will be radiant over the bounty of the Lord—Over the grain and the new wine and the oil,

And over the young of the flock and the herd; And their life will be like a watered garden,

And they will never languish again.”

Jeremiah 31:12

Do you ever feel dry? How about worn out? Does “lifeless” sometimes describe you? Or, do you long for the day when you’re not barely squeaking by financially? If you are a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, you are in for a day when you are shouting for joy; when you are absolutely radiant. Shouting for joy over what? Radiant about what? The bounty of the Lord. He’s going to open the floodgate and you’ll be the recipient of His great bounty!

Heavenly Father, we can hardly wait for the day when we see You face to face; when we are radiant and shouting for joy. Come quickly, BOUNTIFUL LORD!

ANOINTED

06/11/2013
“‘THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.'”

Luke 4:18-19

It makes me smile to read Christ’s words. Why? He had just returned from being tempted by Satan in the wilderness. He was being led by the Spirit in the power of the Spirit.” (Lk 4:14) What was His first messianic, Spirit anointed action? He went home. To Nazareth, where He had been brought up. I love that! And get this – “as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.” Friends, this is a good place for us to pause and ask ourselves: Is it our custom to gather with others each week to read and hear the Scripture? Are we raising our children with the custom of gathering weekly with other believers? If it was what God’s ANOINTED did, I want to follow His example. I wouldn’t have wanted to have missed hearing Him speak that day, nor do I want to miss hearing Him speak today.

Jesus, I praise You, ANOINTED Lord and Savior, for Your words and for modeling the Spirit-led life!

eXALTED

06/08/2013

“The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock;
And exalted be God, the rock of my salvation,”

 2 Samuel 22:47

The Lord lives! Can I get a hallelujah from anyone? AND, He is the EXALTED rock of our salvation. He is above ALL.  Knowing that, the question for me is: how can I exalt Him in my life? Might it be through my actions? My speech? The way I spend my time? I pray it is all of those.

I praise You, EXALTED LORD! There is none like You. I worship and bow before You.

WORTHY

06/06/2013

“And they sang a new song, saying,

Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.'”

 Revelation 5:9

Why is Jesus worthy of all the praise and glory we give Him? What makes HIM distinct from all other men who have walked the earth? He alone is God. He was slain and raised. With HIS blood He purchased us to be a kingdom and priests to our God; to reign on the earth. Let us join the “myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands,” whom John heard saying with a loud voice, ‘Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.'” Revelation 5:12

Lord Jesus, You are WORTHY! I give You all the praise and glory!

WORD of GOD

06/04/2013

“His name is called The Word of God.”

 Revelation 19:13

Words define us.  They are an expression of our heart. They let others know what is on our mind. Jesus is the personification of all God might say or think. Jesus is an expression of God’s heart. Jesus is God’s Word made flesh.

Lord Jesus Christ, I praise You, WORD of GOD!

VINEDRESSER

05/31/2013

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.”

John 15:1-2

God is interested in you. He wants more for you than for you to lay around like a semi-productive vine. Fruit is fun! Fruit is good. It’s the purpose of the vine – to bear fruit. Our purpose as Christians is not to be spiritual dead beats. Rather, we’re to bear fruit for God. Pruning is for our good and the benefit of all. It results in more fruit and more joy. If God has the heavenly clippers aimed in your direction, it’s because He’s the vinedresser

Lord, You are the VINEDRESSER. I praise You that You care about me being more than a semi-fruitful Christian.

VINDICATOR

05/30/2013

“O Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear to vindicate the orphan and the oppressed,
So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.”

Psalm 10:17-18

Do you think God doesn’t see today’s evil? Human trafficking. Children being abused at the hands of depraved people and consumers buying it for “entertainment.” Christians being persecuted. Abuse and abandonment of spouses. Abortion horrors escalating. Civil rights violated. God is not blind. He will vindicate the orphan and the oppressed.

Lord, You VINDICATE the orphan and the oppressed. I praise You!

UNSEARCHABLE

05/29/2013

Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised,
And His greatness is unsearchable.”

Psalm 145:3

One of the exciting aspects about the day in which we live is that with advances in research, the Bible is proved to be a reliable historical and scientific source. Things at which earlier civilizations scoffed, we nod our heads in agreement, “You know, the Bible was right about that. The earth is round, not flat.” (Is 40:22) However, the psalmist brings up an important fact. Although we may “know” God and His greatness in certain ways, the reality is, He is unsearchable. We will never know or understand everything about Him. He’s that big. He’s that great. Our praise will be unending.

Lord, You are UNSEARCHABLE. I praise and worship You.

UNEQUALED

05/28/2013

“‘To whom then will you liken Me
That I would be his equal?’ says the Holy One.”

Isaiah 40:25

In this powerful chapter of the Bible, God proclaims His greatness. The fact that no one is equal to Him should be a point of great comfort to us. God calls us to lift up our eyes and see the heavens He created and holds in place. They didn’t “happen” to fall into place. And, the same One who holds them in place, will hold us together. God is unequaled and our response is to bow down and worship Him.

Lord, You are UNEQUALED. There is no one deserving of praise, honor, and worship like You.
