TRUST of ALL the ENDS Of the EARTH and of the FARTHEST SEA

05/20/2013

“By awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, O God of our salvation, You who are the trust of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest sea;”

Psalm 65:5

God is not the God of only a certain people group, class, or church denomination. Rather, David points out that God is the One to whom ALL people can come (verse 2), and that God hears their prayers. Do you live in a remote part of the world, but are receiving this? Are you in rehab and looking for One you can trust? Are you in a country where you have to have these words translated, but are seeking a God who can save you? Are you a missionary living with those who speak a different language? How awesome it is to know that the God of our salvation, who answers in righteousness is the trust of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest sea.

Lord, we worship You, who are the TRUST of ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH and of the FARTHEST SEA

TREASURE

05/19/2013

God… is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. For we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;”

2  Corinthians 4:6-7

When you were little, did you play a game where you went on a treasure hunt? Today, do you put your treasured valuables or documents in a safe? The Bible tells us that we (Christians) are as a safe. Although we are earthen, He trusts us with a treasure. What is the treasure? It’s God. It’s the knowledge of Him shining in our hearts. It’s His greatness of power. With humble reverence and gratefulness beyond measure, we ought to bow and worship God for this great gift of Himself and glory within us.

Lord, YOU are the TREASURE that men seek. And I have You in my heart.

TENDER

05/18/2013

“To give to His people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins,                              because of the tender mercy of our God…”

Luke 1:78

The word “tender” jumped out at me. I remember when it happened. I was reading Zacharias prayer of praise for God giving him a son. As words of praise flowed from his mouth, Zacharias thanked God for His tender mercies. Not harsh. Not overbearing. Not cruel. No, none of those words describe our Lord. Instead, at the core of who God is, at the seat of God’s heart is tenderness. Oh, that we might all praise our wonderful God!

Lord, I praise and worship You! You, who show TENDER mercy to me!

TEACHER

05/17/2013

“If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”

John 13:14

The scene doesn’t seem to make sense at first glance: Lord and Teacher. Stinky feet. Dirty bowl of water. Messy. Jesus on His knees washing feet. However, the moment had to do with more than cleansing feet. It was about humility and forgiveness. Our Lord and Teacher physically illustrated what He would spiritually do for us. It would be messy (a bloody mess), but He would cleanse us by washing away our sins. However, He went further. Our Lord and Teacher taught us that as He had done, we are to do. We are to take the bowl and water and towel, and though there has been dirt, we are to wash away the grudge we see when we look at another person rather than lord over them our self perceived “perfection.” Jesus is our Lord and Teacher. Are we being His faithful student?

Jesus, Thank You for washing away my sin. I praise You, LORD and TEACHER

SUPPORT

05/16/2013

“They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support.”

2 Samuel 22:19

Does it amaze you how many different ways God is described? Today our focus is on how God is our support. Do you ever wish you had more support at work? Perhaps you wish you had support parenting your children. Or, you may wish you had a supportive spouse or friend. I remember one night long ago when I grasped that God was my support. I was in a position where no one could help me. It wasn’t that they wouldn’t, it was simply something I had to go through by myself. I was lonely and didn’t know what to do. It was just God and me. And guess what. I found that I wasn’t without help. God was with me and He was my support. Sometimes it’s better to quit looking for someone to fill the spot that only God can fill.

Lord God, Thank You for being my SUPPORT.  When no one else is there, or even if they are, You are the ultimate SUPPORT I need.

SUPPLIER

05/15/2013

“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

 Philippians 4:19

Do you ever feel empty or drained? What about anxious or uptight? Does mad or angry better describe you? Or sad and melancholy? Whatever our condition, whatever our need, we have a supplier. Short on perseverance? Ready to give up or cave in? Feel like you’re going to blow a fuse? Don’t know how you’ll ever smile again? Those are temporary, normal feelings that we can have at times. But if we’re a Christian, we have hope. God offers to supply all our needs according to HIS RICHES in GLORY in CHRIST JESUS. Don’t tightly clutch your downcast, angry, or discouraged feeling to your chest. Rather, open your hand and release it to God. Then take hold of what you need according to His supply of glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being the SUPPLIER of all I need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus!

SUFFICIENT

05/14/2013

“He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’”

 2 Corinthians 12:9

An AT&T commercial recently asked a group of children, “Who thinks more is better than less?” A little girl quickly responded, “We want more. We want more.” We can identify with her when we are weak. What do we want? We want more of God’s grace. We want more of His power. God hears and answers, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” What does sufficient mean? Does it mean barely enough to get by? No. Rather, the Hebrew word means, “to be possessed of unfailing strength, to be strong, to suffice, to be enough.”* God Himself is the answer to our cry for more.

Heavenly Father, Thank You that in our weakness, You respond to our cry for more with the assurance that Your grace is SUFFICIENT (unfailing strength) and power is perfected in weakness.

STRONG TOWER

05/13/2013

 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous runs into it and is safe.”

 Proverbs 18:10

Perspective. It’s everything. Look at the cup half empty and you’re prone to be a negative, depressed person. Look at it half full, and you go through your day with an optimistic attitude. But what if you could scale the heights of heaven and look at things from God’s perspective? What then? You would feel safe. You would see that God is in control. And that is the very invitation God gives us. Run into the strong tower of God’s name. See things from His heavenly watchful eye.

Heavenly Father, You are a STRONG TOWER. I can scale the heights of heaven as I praise Your name and know I am safe.

SPIRIT of TRUTH

05/11/2013

“When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth;…”

 John 16:13

The TRUTH. When listening to the news, do you ever long for the truth? When questioning your child have you ever doubted their words and said, “Tell me the truth”? If you’ve been lied to, do you question if the person is telling you the truth? How refreshing that God is the Spirit of TRUTH. So when we question if we should do things our way or God’s, we have the answer. Follow the Spirit of Truth. When society tells us one thing, but it doesn’t line up with the Bible, who do we believe? God’s Word, for His voice is the Spirit of Truth.

Lord God, how refreshing that I can wholeheartedly trust You, the SPIRIT of TRUTH!

SOVEREIGN

05/10/2013

“I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all thing, and of Christ Jesus, …that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He wil bring about at the proper time – He who is the blessed and only SOVEREIGN, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

1 Timothy 6:13-16

Jesus is Sovereign; which by definition means a royal minister of great authority. In writing to Timothy, Paul reminds him of that fact and the importance of keeping the Sovereign’s commandments. With the reminder that Jesus is returning, Paul continues his accolades. He can’t stop praising the Lord Jesus Christ. Hopefully, neither can we.

Lord Jesus Christ, the blessed and only SOVEREIGN, I praise and worship You!
