Deity
The Right Person for the Job
Are you familiar with the saying, “I’m your huckleberry”? Several summers ago, my husband and I visited Glacier National Park. Right outside the park, we stopped at a restaurant that had everything huckleberry: huckleberry pie, huckleberry pancakes, huckleberry coffee. And for those of you who know Keith, you won’t be surprised that he wanted to buy me a T-shirt that says, “I’m your huckleberry.”
I wasn’t quite sure what it meant to be someone’s huckleberry so I did a little research. To be one’s huckleberry is “to be just the right person for a given job or a willing executor of some commission.”
What does any of this have to do with Jesus?
There was only one person who could fulfill the righteous requirement of the law. Only one person could pay our sin debt. Only Jesus, “in whom all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form.” Colossians 2:9
Jesus, in whom all the fullness of Deity dwelled in bodily form was “just the right person for the job” of saving us. Jesus is “just the right person” to empower us live the Christian life. Are we rejoicing before Jesus? Are we daily thanking Him? Are we walking by His Spirit?
Lord Jesus, One in whom all the fullness of DEITY dwells, God’s perfect provision and “just the right person for the job” of saving and sanctifying us, we love and praise You.

Right outside the park, we stopped at a restaurant that had everything huckleberry. Huckleberry pie, huckleberry pancakes. Huckleberry coffee. And, for those of you who know Keith, you won’t be surprised that he couldn’t keep from buying me a purple huckleberry teeshirt that says, “I’m your huckleberry.” I wasn’t sure what I was wearing so I did a little research. To be one’s huckleberry is “to be just the right person for a given job or a willing executor of some commission.” What does any of this have to do with Jesus? Colossians 2:9 says this about Christ, “…in Him, all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form.” In other words, Christ is “just the right person for the job” to fulfill all righteousness in us. He is “just the right person for the job” to help us live the Christian life. Jesus is “just the right person for the job” to help us with any and every thing we need. In other words, He is heaven’s gift to us, the willing executor of our eternal salvation. Are we rejoicing in Him? Are we rejoicing before Him? Are we embracing Heaven’s gift for every thing in our lives? If not, why not?
Lord Jesus, You and You alone are the One in whom ALL the fullness of DEITY dwells. You are God’s heavenly provision, “just the right person for the job,” for our salvation and sanctification, for our daily walk with You and before You. How we love and adore You.

Some who have gone to church their whole lives are striving to do and be what they think God wants. But, friends, we can never live the Christian life in our strength. In Christ, all the fullness of God lives. HE is “just the right person for the job,” for fulfilling all righteousness in us. To the degree that we understand this, we’ll live a life surrendered to Christ.
Lord Jesus, You and You alone are the One in whom ALL the fullness of DEITY dwells. May we be continually mindful of living surrendered to You.

Thank you, Jesus, in whom all the fullness of DEITY dwells
“…in Him (Christ) all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,”
Some people claim that Jesus was “just another teacher.” Others say He was a prophet; one among many prophets. Not so! Jesus proved His deity by His life, death, resurrection, and ascension. ALL the fullness of God exists in Him. Knowing this should cause us to raise our voices in praise. All the fullness of Deity came from heaven in bodily form to die for us and save our souls. What a remarkable Lord He is!
Jesus, in You all the fullness of DEITY dwells! We praise and worship You.
