Fix Your Thoughts on Jesus

A Tip for Everyday Living

01/16/2025

Do you like tips on money management, tips on gardening, tips on home organizing, or on some other topic? We do well to pay attention to proven tips. They help us do things smarter and in a more meaningful way. In that regard, Hebrews 3:1 gives us a spiritual tip.

“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession.”

What kind of a tip is that?

The word “consider” in this verse means “fix your thoughts”.

The tip is – as partakers of a heavenly calling, we’re to fix our thoughts on Jesus when we wake in the morning. We’re to fix our thoughts on Jesus when we get bad news. We’re to fix our thoughts on Jesus when we face a difficult decision. We’re to fix our thoughts on Jesus as we go through our day.

Why should we fix our thoughts on Jesus?

When we look at Jesus and consider Him, we are more likely to act and think like partakers of our heavenly calling. We’re less likely to be overwhelmed, panicked, worried, or perhaps prideful.

Try it. You’ll discover that considering Jesus, fixing your thoughts on Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of your confession, results in increased hope, assurance, peace, and purpose.

Jesus, APOSTLE AND HIGH PRIEST of our confession, You are our wonderful Lord and Savior who has made us a partaker of a heavenly calling. Help us walk out our calling well by considering and fixing our thoughts on You.
