Hearing God's Voice
Do You Have a Problem?

Do you have a problem? Are you in a quandary regarding what to do about something? Have you talked to Jesus about it? Why talk to Him? The answer is because Jesus is a God of intelligence, skill, and insight. Look no further than the creation which proves His wisdom and understanding.
Proverbs 3:19 tells us, “The LORD by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding, He established the heavens.”
The Hebrew word for understanding in Proverbs 3:19 means “intelligence, skill, and insight.”
In other words, when we look at the earth and heavens, we see evidence of God’s intelligence, skill, and insight; His understanding of how all things work to His glory.
You can trust the same God who created the heavens and earth to give you wisdom, intelligence, skill, and insight for your daily needs, decisions, and relationships. Pray and listen to His still quiet voice. Walk by God’s Words and Spirit.
Lord, thank You for Your UNDERSTANDING, Your intelligence, skill, and insight. I praise You that You are an approachable God to whom I can come regarding problems and decisions. Thank You for the wisdom and insight You provide.

Speaker of the House

So what do you think of the Speaker of the House? Oh, I’m not talking about the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. I’m referring to the Speaker of God’s House, the Speaker of Righteousness, as Isaiah 45:19 describes the LORD.
“I have not spoken in secret, in some dark land…I, the Lord, speak righteousness, declaring things that are upright” (Isaiah 45:19).
How wonderful that we have a Speaker of the House who is a Speaker of Righteousness. While reading the Bible, we hear His righteous voice. As citizens of His Kingdom, we can ponder and practice the ways our Speaker of Righteousness tells us to live.
The LORD is not a silent God. He speaks through His Word. He speaks into our hearts and minds through His Spirit.
Are we listening to the Speaker of our House?
Are we sharing the Speaker of Righteousness’ words with others?
Thank You, Lord, SPEAKER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. May I listen to and follow Your voice above all others. May I faithfully share You with others in my sphere of influence.
One of the ways Hill Country Ministries shares what God has spoken is through our ministry pages on Facebook and Instagram. They are “microphones” we use to “go out into the world” as Jesus tells us to do. When you “Like” our Facebook page or follow us on Instagram, it increases Christ’s, our Speaker’s, reach.

When You Are at Your Wit’s End

Have you ever felt at your wit’s end…puzzled and perplexed about a situation? Perhaps you don’t know what to do with a child or your marriage. You may feel at your wit’s end in regard to a work situation or friendship. When we feel at our wit’s end it is often because we’ve exhausted our resources. We’ve tried everything we know to do and haven’t come up with a solution. Talking things over with a friend or family member hasn’t helped. Recommended books and resources haven’t provided the answer.
When we’re at our wit’s end, we do well to “stop, drop, and pray” as I write in “Pray with Purpose, Live with Passion.” Stop and drop to our knees. Why? If we’re already “dead in our tracks” about what to do, what better place and before whom could we better stop? We bow because we are humbly aware that we need a higher power and His name is Jesus Christ.
We stop and drop to our knees because we want to hear from the Lord, who says in Psalm 32:8, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go.”
We’re bowed and quiet, looking up for divine help. We’re listening to what some call a still small voice and is, in fact, the Holy Spirit speaking into our spirit.
If you’ve never tried it before, I encourage you to stop, drop, and pray, “Lord, instruct me and teach me the way I should go… with my job, with this project, with my child, in my marriage, with this health concern.”
Lord Jesus, my INSTRUCTOR, I love and adore You and thank You for the promise that You will instruct me and teach me the way in which I should go. Help me listen well.

Do You Hear Him?

Have you ever done a study on the voice of God? It’s fascinating! In Isaiah 30:30, we’re told the following about God’s voice: “And the Lord will cause His voice of authority to be heard.” The literal translation is “voice of majesty.”
How does God speak to us? He speaks through His majestic creation that He is glorious and that He is a God of order with an unlimited imagination. God’s voice speaks to us through the Bible, the wisest, most beautifully written work of all time. God speaks to us through Christ letting us know that He is sacrificial, loving, and forgiving. God’s voice speaks to us in our innermost being warning us of the dangers of sin and calling us to walk in His ways. Yes, God’s voice goes forth. He calls to us but sometimes the busyness of the day drowns out His voice.
How can we make sure we don’t miss hearing God calling to us? We can purposefully choose to slip out of our beds in the mornings and quietly meet with Him – just the two of us – so we can hear Him without interruptions. We return throughout the day to think about Him and listen for His promptings. His voice encourages us in our weariness. His voice comforts us when we repent of sin. His voice instructs us, “Take this course of action…” If we take God seriously, write down His instructions, and follow through on what He tells us, we discover He calls to us and instructs us even more. Are we listening? Are we obeying? Are we experiencing the blessed life of intimacy with the Almighty?
VOICE OF AUTHORITY, VOICE OF MAJESTY, thank You for speaking to us. Tune our hearts and minds to recognize Your voice and obey You.
