Hebrews 1:2

When Nations Are Rocking Over Control

05/01/2023

Power. Control. Who has it? Who wants it? To what extent will people go to gain control? Daily, we see people driven to have control over others whether at the local, national, or world level. I wonder how we would live if we kept Hebrews 1:2  in our thoughts. It says that Jesus is the HEIR OF ALL THINGS.  At the time those words were written to the Hebrew people, it appeared the government had control over everything. However, God wanted the Hebrews to know that Jesus is the possessor of everything. He created the world and it is ultimately His. It was important for the first century Christians to be assured of this fact. It’s important for us to be assured of it. How does it make you feel when you reflect on this great reality and truth?

LORD, we praise You for appointing Jesus as the HEIR OF ALL THINGS. Thank You for the assurance this brings us.

Who Gets it All

Hebrews 1:2  tells us that Jesus is the HEIR OF ALL THINGS. Why was it important for the writer of Hebrews to communicate this about Jesus? At the time the words were written to the Hebrew people, it appeared the government had control over all things. However, God wanted the Hebrews to know that Jesus was the ultimate possessor of everything. He created the world and everything in it; therefore, it is ultimately His. LORD, we praise You for appointing Jesus as the HEIR OF ALL THINGS. Thank You for the assurance that our nation and world are His possession.

Praise to Jesus, HEIR OF ALL THINGS

05/04/2018

“in these last days (God) has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed HEIR of ALL THINGS, through whom also He made the world.”

Hebrews 1:2

Why is it important to know and praise Jesus as the HEIR OF ALL THINGS? At the time these words were written to the Hebrew people, it appeared the government had control over all things. However, God wanted the Hebrews to know that Jesus was the ultimate possessor of everything. He created the world and everything in it; therefore, it is ultimately His. It was important for the first century Christians to be assured. It’s important for us to be assured.

HEIR OF ALL THINGS

07/24/2013

“in these last days (God) has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.”

Hebrews 1:2

Why is it important for us to know that Jesus is the heir of all things? In an age when it appeared the government had control over all things, God wanted the Hebrews to know that Jesus was the ultimate possessor of everything. He created the world and everything in it was ultimately His. It was important for the first century Christians to know. It’s important for us to know; for we are joint heirs with Christ. Perhaps God wants us to focus on what we’ve already inherited in Christ, the heir of all things. Perhaps He wants us to be assured of that which we have yet to inherit.

LORD, I praise You for appointing Jesus as the HEIR OF ALL THINGS. I celebrate all that I have in Him and look forward in wonder and awe to that which I have yet to inherit.

Why not record that which you’ve already inherited in Christ: your salvation, God’s love, forgiveness, a new family in the body of Christ, a new mind, the Holy Spirit, etc in Prayers of My Heart?
