Hebrews 13:8
Can You Discern the Times?
Would you have ever believed some of the things going on in our country? It can make your head spin. The changes are happening so fast that people who don’t read or watch the news are going to be shocked one day to learn that their freedoms have been taken away and that they are mandated to do things against their will. Am I advocating that we read or watch the news all day? Not at all. But I can speak to the importance of being informed. I highly recommend having your Bible open and studying (not skimming) what God wants us to know about the days in which we live and about the days that are coming.
In Matthew 16:2-3, Jesus said, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?”
It is clear that God spoke through prophets. They warned of future events. Although your head may be spinning at the ever-changing society in which we live, what a blessing to know that Jesus will not change. As Hebrews 13:8 reminds us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Yes, our nation is changing. The world is changing. But Jesus will always be the same holy, loving, grace-filled God that He’s always been. If we ever wonder with whom to align ourselves, it is Christ.
Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus, we love You and thank You that You are the SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER.

Unchanging God
Have you ever been with a person whose convictions changed as often as the seasons? Perhaps they read a book and decided to follow that person’s opinion and philosophy of life. Then they read another book and decided to follow a different view. Thank goodness believers don’t have to worry about God flipping His opinion every other year. Thank goodness and thank God that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) In other words, we can depend on Him. Christ and His teaching are IMMUTABLE. They are unchanging. What He called holy yesterday is holy today and will be holy tomorrow. What He called sin yesterday is sin today and is sin tomorrow. And, the grace God extended yesterday is the grace He extends today and extends tomorrow. We follow and serve an unchanging, IMMUTABLE God.
Lord Jesus, we praise You, IMMUTABLE, unchanging Lord God!

Recently I taught on Daniel’s 70 weeks, a fascinating prophecy. It is clear that God spoke through prophets. They warned of future events. Although your head may be spinning at the ever changing society in which we live, what a blessing to know that Jesus will not change as Hebrews 13:8 reminds us,

Power Dressing
A few days ago I had a reality check. Was the woman in the mirror really me? What about you? Have you ever had a reality check about yourself, but rather than do something to correct a bad habit you continued in it? Is there help available to those of us who want to change? Yes. In Luke 24:49 Jesus said He would send the Holy Spirit who would clothe His followers with power from on high. Talk about power dressing that affects not only us but our relationship with God and others. God knew we needed supernatural power to live out our faith. If you’ve not liked something you’ve seen about yourself lately, read Galatians 5:13-26, a great spiritual mirror. Then, pray to God to fill you with power from on high to walk out your faith. I Think… I Think… Hmmm, What Do I Think?
Do you ever feel that things change so fast you can hardly keep up? Does it seem that people change what they say from one day to the next? Here’s some good news. God doesn’t change. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that Jesus Christ is the SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, and FOREVER. Society may change standards and morals, but our Heavenly Father will always be the same holy, loving, grace-filled God that He’s always been. Lord God, thank You that You do not change. You are the SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, and FOREVER.

Praise to IMMUTABLE GOD
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Have you ever been with a person whose convictions changed as often as the seasons? Perhaps they followed one person’s teachings, then changed and followed another person who held a totally different view. One of the things for which we can be confident is that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In other words, we can depend on Him. He and His teaching are IMMUTABLE – unchanging over time. What He calls holy today is holy tomorrow. What He calls sin today is sin tomorrow. And the grace He extends today is there for us tomorrow. What a wonderful, IMMUTABLE God we serve!
Lord Jesus, we praise You, IMMUTABLE Lord God!
