Hebrews 7:25-26
Here’s Something for Which to be Thankful
It will be here before you know it. Thanksgiving will be upon us. Is your heart filled with thanksgiving? Or do you feel like a deflated balloon, that many things for which you’d hoped have fallen flat? No one will argue that life is hard. It is. Some time ago someone said to me, “The only good I have is because I’m a Christian.” What did they mean? They were saying that Christ is the “goodness” in their life. He is, in fact, what makes us good.
Hebrews 7:26 uses the word “undefiled” to describe Christ because He is more than good. Jesus is “holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.” In other words, Christ is more than a good prophet. He is the high priest of heaven who saves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is.
No matter the circumstances you are facing today, your good Savior is facing them with you. This day will pass. Christ’s goodness and presence with you will never pass. For that, you can be thankful.
Lord Jesus, holy, UNDEFILED Savior, we love and praise You, the goodness in our life, our purity and salvation. We are grateful for and love You.
First Thessalonians 5:17-18 instructs us to pray without ceasing and to give thanks in all things. Would you like some resources to help you with these commands? It’s coming! It’s soon. Thanksgiving will be upon us. Is your heart filled with thanksgiving? Or do you feel like a deflated balloon, that many things for which you’d hoped have fallen flat? Here’s Something for Which to be Grateful
Happy Thanksgiving!
Recently, someone said to me, “The only good I have is because I’m a Christian.” What did the person mean? They were acknowledging that Christ is the “goodness” in them. Christ is more than “good,” however. He is what Hebrews 7:26 defines as undefiled. Whereas our human nature is defiled, Christ is the opposite. He is “holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted about the heavens.” Christ is a fitting high priest who saves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is. We have a holy, innocent, UNDEFILED Savior to whom we can look with gratitude.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for loving us and saving us! We are grateful for You and love you.
Here’s Something for Which to be Grateful
Recently, someone said to me, “The only good I have is because I’m a Christian.” What did the person mean? They were acknowledging that Christ is the “goodness” in them. Christ is more than “good,” however, as we understand goodness. He is what Hebrews 7:26 defines as undefiled. Whereas, our human nature is defiled, Christ is the opposite. He is “holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted about the heavens.” Christ is a fitting high priest who is able to save us not because of who we are, but because of who He is. Our stubborn sinfulness doesn’t throw Him. Our willful rebellion doesn’t cripple His saving power. We have a holy, innocent, UNDEFILED Savior to whom we can look with gratitude.
“For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, UNDEFILED, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;” Hebrews 7:26.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for loving us and saving us! We love you.
Praise to the UNDEFILED Christ
“For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, UNDEFILED, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;”
This is one of my favorite of Christ’s attributes. Why? For the reason it gives. Christ is able to save us not because of who we are, but because of who He is. Our stubborn sinfulness doesn’t throw Him. Our sin doesn’t cripple His saving power. We have an innocent UNDEFILED Savior who has gained our salvation on the basis of His righteousness. I’ll take that any day of the year. How about you? With a grateful heart to our Lord, I’m singing His praises.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus – there’s something about that name. Holy, innocent, UNDEFILED, able to make intercession for us. We love and praise You!
UNDEFILED
“Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;”
Hebrews 7:25-26
This is one of my favorite attributes. Why? For the reason it gives. Christ is able to save me not because of who I am, but because of who He is. My stubborn sinfulness doesn’t throw Him. My sin doesn’t cripple His saving power. I have an innocent undefiled Savior who is able to soar to heaven and plead my salvation in God’s presence. I’ll take that any day of the year. How about you? With a grateful heart to my Lord, I’m singing His praises.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus – there’s something about that name. Holy, innocent, UNDEFILED, able to make intercession for me. I love and praise You!
