Lion of Judah

Chewed Up and Spit Out

06/14/2024

Do you ever feel like you’re eaten up with sin? Or can you look back to a time when you succumbed to temptation and Satan “chewed you up and spit you out”? If so, no doubt you praise Christ for being the victor over the devil who prowls like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8) Yes, Satan is the great pretender. He prowls like a roaring lion but he isn’t a lion. He mimics everything about Christ because he is insanely jealous that Christ is Lord, not him. The true lion? The genuine, real deal lion? Jesus is, as Revelation 5:5 explains.

“Behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.”

Jesus’ title, Lion of Judah, is traced to Genesis 49:9 when Jacob blessed his son, Judah, and referred to him as a young lion.

Christ is traced to this noble tribe of Israel. Rather than being a “young lion,” however, or a fictional lion king movie character, Christ’s title designates Jesus as the true Lion King, the noblest and most powerful One. As Revelation 5:5 states, Christ has overcome all, even death. He’s our Lion King. Give praise to Him and turn to Him when Satan nips at your heels.

Lord Jesus Christ, LION OF JUDAH, we worship You! Thank You for all You have done to defeat Satan and secure our salvation. Move in us increasingly so we are aware of Your presence and power.

Stop Weeping. He’s Got This.

06/20/2020

We live in a time where many are sorrowful and weeping over the loss of family, friends, and the future. We’re looking for the right leader. The perfect one who can claim their rightful position and authority.  In a scene in heaven, John records where our hope is fulfilled.  Revelation 5:5 where Jesus is called LION OF JUDAH. “Stop weeping; behold, the LION that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.” Lion of Judah can be traced to Genesis 49:9 when Jacob blessed his son, Judah, and referred to him as “Young Lion.” Christ, who came from this noble tribe of Israel, is not a “Young Lion,” however. He is not one who prowls around like a roaring lion like Satan does seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8) He is not a fictional Lion King character.  Rather, the Lord Jesus Christ is THE LION of the TRIBE of JUDAH, meaning He is the noblest of all. He is the most powerful One. He overcomes all, even death. He alone is worthy to open God’s book and seals.  That’s our Lion King!

Lord Jesus Christ, LION OF JUDAH, we worship You who is worthy above all others! Thank You that we don’t need to weep over our future but rather, can trust it to You.

Praise to the LION OF JUDAH

07/05/2018

“Stop weeping; behold, the LION that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.”

 Revelation 5:5

Messiah’s title, LION OF JUDAH, can be traced to Genesis 49:9 when Jacob blessed his son, Judah, and referred to him as “Young Lion.” Christ, who came from this noble tribe of Israel, is not a “Young Lion.” He is not one who prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour, as Satan does. (1 Peter 5:8) He is not a pretend Lion King.  Rather, the Lord Jesus Christ is THE LION of the TRIBE of JUDAH. He is the noblest. He is the most powerful. He overcomes all, even death. He alone is worthy to open the scroll that is sealed.

Lord Jesus Christ, LION OF JUDAH, we worship You, worthy above all others!

LION of JUDAH

“Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.”

 Revelation 5:5

Are you ever familiar with a description of Jesus and read it quickly without much thought? If so, I suggest that you pause and read the description in the context of the chapter. When we do, we open our hearts for the Lord to stir and convict us. Such is the case with the Lion of Judah. Christ, who came from the noblest of Israel’s tribes, and is the only one found to open the book and seals, is also the lamb slain for my sins. Is it any wonder that those surrounding Him are bowed in worship and adoration?

Lord Jesus, Lamb of God and LION OF JUDAH, I praise You for Your sacrifice on my behalf. I praise You, worthy One!
