Broken Promises? Not This Time

02/26/2023

Has anyone ever broken a promise to you? If so, you know the devastation. The heartbreak. The despair. Can you imagine the horribleness of dying and it not being what you expected – soul rest, nothingness; as some unbelievers anticipate?  There is nothing more important than making the choice today for the care of our souls for eternity. We know that at any moment we could die from a heart attack or accident. Is your soul secure if that were to happen? It is only secure if you have entrusted it to Jesus, the Covenant Maker. A familiar passage often read during Communion is Matthew 26:27-28. It is the most important promise Jesus made for the security of our souls for eternity.  “And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.'” Only God can forgive the sins that stain our souls and make us unfit for heaven.  We can do nothing to secure our eternity in heaven. Only Jesus. Say those words with me. Only Jesus…can forgive my soul, wash me clean, and open the door to heaven and eternal life with Him. Jesus is the Covenant, the Promise Maker. Others may have broken promises to you. Jesus keeps His promise. Be joyful. Your soul is secure in Christ.

Lord Jesus, COVENANT MAKER, thank You for the Covenant of peace and eternal life through Your blood. We rest in You. We wait for You and the day we will see You and fall at Your feet and worship.

God Delivers On What He Promises

12/20/2019

Have you ever had someone tell you they would do something and then they didn’t deliver on it?  Although it happens with humans, it doesn’t happen with God. What He says He will do, He does. In Genesis 12:1-3, God made a unilateral, unconditional covenant with Abraham that included the promise of land, descendants, and redemption. In the form of a smoking furnace and a flaming torch, God passed between the pieces of the sacrifice. Matthew 26:27-28 records Jesus stating that He is the fulfillment of the covenant God made.  “And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.'” What God promises, He delivers on. We can celebrate that today and for eternity!

Lord, COVENANT KEEPER, You not only made a covenant, but You fulfilled it and sealed it with Your blood. We worship, praise, and adore You.

A Blessing to Slow Down and Think About

05/07/2019

Do you ever hurriedly read through familiar passages in the Bible? I often have to remind myself to slow down so I grasp the fullness of God’s words. Such is the case with Matthew 26:27-28; which is often read during Communion. “And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.'” When we slow down to read this passage, we realize that Jesus identifies Himself as the Covenant Maker. He makes a covenant with us and seals it with His blood. His covenant with us is eternally binding. Nothing can separate us from Him. What a blessing for us to slow down and think about.

Lord Jesus, COVENANT MAKER, You not only made a covenant with us, but You sealed it with Your blood. We worship, praise, and adore You, our Lord and God.

Praise God of the COVENANT

“And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.'”

Matthew 26:27-28

Do you ever hurriedly read through familiar passages in the Bible? I often have to remind myself to slow down so I grasp the intensity of God’s words to me. Such is the case with Matthew 26:27-28; which is often read during Communion. When we slow down to read this passage, we realize that Jesus identifies Himself as the Covenant Maker. He makes a covenant with us and seals it with His blood. He literally dies for us, and His covenant with us is forever binding.

Lord Jesus, COVENANT MAKER, You not only made a covenant with us, but You sealed it with Your blood. We worship, praise, and adore You, our Lord and God.
