Which Star Are You Following?
Curious and apprehensive about who was scheduled to perform for a halftime show since some past stars had been inappropriate, I did a quick search. Watching a few minutes of one of his music videos, I was relieved that his performance appeared to be family friendly.
Today, there are many influential stars. They have fans who follow their every move, who believe what they say or write, and imitate how they dress and what they do. When they perform their producers shine bright lights on them.
Thank goodness, there is another star, more famous than anyone. His influence is positive and remains long after other stars have come and burned out. His name is Jesus Christ and in Revelation 22:16, He announces, “I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”
Jesus is the bright morning star who outshines all others. He is the star on whom we are to set our gaze. He is the star we are to follow. His voice is the one we should listen to so often that we know His verses by heart and we hum them through the day.
So when you watch earthly stars rise and fall, be assured that Jesus, the Bright Morning Star, will shine brightly forever.
Jesus, BRIGHT MORNING STAR, there is no one more glorious than You.
Bask in Your Ancestrial SonLight
Do you know who your ancestors are? How far back can you trace your family tree? Being able to trace one’s lineage is important to many and is definitely important in Jewish culture. Jesus’ human lineage can be traced to Israel’s King David. But Jesus has an even more illustrious lineage as He states in Revelation 22:16. He says, “I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.” In other words, His roots go further back than David. They go all the way to creation. Jesus is the bright morning star, heaven’s light. In our often dark and lonely culture, it’s important for us to daily bask in the SonLight. It’s important for us to invite others to join us.

Watching a few minutes of one of his music videos, I was pleased it didn’t include cuss words or nakedness. But then…… He is but one of many stars who influence people. Thank goodness, there is another star, more famous than any and His influence will remain long after other stars have come and gone. His name is Jesus Christ. In Revelation 22:16, Jesus says,
I am the root and the descendant of David, the BRIGHT MORNING STAR.
Jesus is the STAR we should watch and emulate. Jesus is the STAR we should listen to so often that we know by heart the verses He’s written. So as you watch earthly stars rise and fall, remember with deep gratitude Jesus, the Bright Morning Star.
Sweet Jesus, we love and adore You. You are our BRIGHT MORNING STAR. There is none other we follow and worship but You.

Watching a few minutes of one of his music videos, I was pleased it didn’t include cuss words or nakedness. But then…he pulled a gun from behind his back and my heart sank thinking of his influence on fans. Mind you, it was not a hunting video. He is but one of many stars who influence people. Thank goodness, there is another star, more famous than any and his influence will remain long after other stars have come and gone. His name is Jesus Christ. In Revelation 22:16, Jesus says, “I am the root and the descendant of David, the BRIGHT MORNING STAR.” Jesus is the STAR we should watch and emulate.
