Feeling Spiritually Sluggish?
Do you ever feel sluggish? You know—blah? Can’t quite find your “get up and go” even though there are things you could be, should be doing?
Nobody likes that feeling. So what do we do when we don’t feel motivated to pray, work, or get moving? We lift up our souls to God (Psalm 143:8).
We read God’s Word regardless of how we feel and while reading we are encouraged and inspired. God’s thoughts become our thoughts. His passions become our passions.
We ask our Heavenly Father to give us the mind and energy of Christ.
The King James Version of 1 Corinthians 15:45 contrasts the first man, Adam, with the “last Adam,” Jesus, in this way: “The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a Quickening Spirit.”
Jesus’ quickening Spirit arouses and invigorates us.
Christ-followers are not spiritually dead. We’re spiritually alive in Christ. Pray and ask God to fill you with His Quickening Spirit. Then pay attention to what He quickens (nudges, prompts) you to do.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus who is a QUICKENING SPIRIT! Arouse and invigorate me to do Your will.

Authority Over All Nations
Great and marvelous are Your works, O Lord God, the Almighty; Righteous and true are Your ways, King of the Nations” (Revelation 15:3).
Have you ever received a call from a loved one or friend and been told, “I just prayed to receive Christ”? I recall one particular time when someone called me and said those words. Tears of joy rolled down my cheeks. Why?
Just like a lifeless bulb appears to be dead, when we die we appear to be dead. Nothing is further from the truth, however. Just as there is life in a bulb as is evidenced when the stalk and flower emerge, there is life in each person even though their body dies. God created us as living souls and we each emerge to live forever with God or apart from Him eternally.
God, the Heavenly Father, is the God of all people. As Revelation 15:3 states, He is King of the nations. The Bible consistently warns that there are not many ways to heaven. There is only one God we are to worship.
God’s gift of eternal life in heaven comes to us through the forgiveness of our sins by Jesus’ death on the cross. John 3:16 could not be more true. “For God so loved the world…” Yes, God is King of the Nations. Jesus is Savior of the world. If you have never responded to God’s gift of salvation, please pray the following prayer.
Lord God, KING OF THE NATIONS, I call on You to save me. I know I’ve sinned and fall short of Your glory. I ask You to forgive me through Jesus’ death on the cross. Please cleanse me and give me Your Holy Spirit. Seal me for eternity with You in heaven. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Show and Do
Are you sick in spirit, soul, or body? If so, consider how Jehovah-Rapha worked in Moses’ and the Israelites’ lives. They had been in the wilderness for three days after escaping the Egyptians, when they arrived at the undrinkable waters of Marah. What did Moses do? He cried out to Jehovah-Rapha, which means healer. The Lord responded to Moses and told him what to do. Moses obeyed and the bitter, undrinkable water became drinkable.
Exodus 15:26 records God’s encouragement to Moses. “‘If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.’”
This brings us to a question. Have we cried out to Jehovah-Rapha? Have we done what He has shown or told us? The Lord’s message was clear. “If you do” means our actions have consequences.
“If you give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God” emphasizes the importance of paying attention to what God says.
“And do what is right.” Moses had to do what God told him.
“In His sight” means that God sees if we obey Him.
“And give ear to His commandments…” In other words, God is our healer. Are we crying out to Him? Are we doing what He tells us?
JEHOVAH-RAPHA, Lord my Healer, I praise You for the complete healing You’ll give me in heaven. In the meantime, help me increasingly listen to You and do what You tell me.

“Thank you for trusting me with your body,” the massage therapist commented at the end of my session. His comment startled me and caused me to wonder if a neck massage could have turned into a snapped neck. The fact is we do trust our body to people: doctors, massage therapists, nutritionists. More importantly, we entrust our body to Christ or the devil. Yes, Jude 9 records that Michael, the archangel, disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses. The devil wanted Moses’ body. That is a horrifying thought. It is equally horrifying to realize the devil wants our body and soul. It begs an important question. To whom have you entrusted your body? “Meet Jesus.”

Show and Do
Are you in a desperate spot? Sick of spirit, soul, or body? Are you frustrated because you’re not caring for yourself in the way you should? If so, I can relate. Our bodies, minds, and emotions are wonderfully made. But if we don’t take care of them, and even when we do, they can break or get sick. Disease can strike…physically, spiritually, emotionally. But let’s zoom in on a way our Heavenly Father chose to reveal Himself. Israel had just celebrated their crossing of the Red Sea and escape from the Egyptians. After three days in the wilderness and no water, they arrive at the waters of Marah, but the water was bitter. They couldn’t drink it. Picture the scene. You’re dying of thirst looking at water you can’t drink. And you can’t do a thing about it. You can’t fix it. Are you there now in your life? You have a problem you can’t fix?
Moses is desperate. He “cried out” to the Lord. As a result, Jehovah-Rapha showed him what to do. Rapha means healer; to mend, cure, make whole. Jehovah-Rapha told Moses to throw a certain tree into the bitter water. Moses obeyed and the most miraculous thing occurred. The water became sweet. Exodus 15:25b-26 says,
There He made a statute and regulation, and there He tested them. And He said, ‘If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.’
This brings us to a question. What have we cried out to Jehovah-Rapha about? What has He shown us to do? Are we doing it? Jehovah-Rapha’s message is clear.
- “If”… that means there’s a choice we make with a correlating consequence.
- “we give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord our God” …. that means we pay attention when He shows us what to do.
- “and do what is right”…Moses had to do the work of cutting down the tree and throwing it in the water. In other words, we have to do the work Jehovah-Rapha shows us to do.
- “in His sight”…God watches to see if we’re doing what He shows us.
- “and give ear to His commandments”… God knows what works. Are we paying attention to how He tells us to live?
God is our spiritual, emotional, relational, mental, physical doctor. Have we cried out to Him? Are we doing what He shows us?
Jehovah-Rapha, Lord our Healer, we praise You for the complete healing we’ll experience in heaven. In the meantime, may we look to You for direction and then do what You show us.
