When You Feel Dreary, Think About This

Do you ever have a dreary day?  You know – a day where you feel blah. You just can’t get up and go. Life doesn’t seem so grand. If so, and when it happens, remember this. The King of Glory is inside of you, believer.  Read Psalm 24:7-10  below with that in mind. The word “glory” in this song means “majesty, splendor.”

“Lift up your heads, O gates,
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
That the KING of GLORY may come in!
Who is the  KING of GLORY?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
That the  KING of GLORY may come in!
Who is this  KING of GLORY?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the  KING of GLORY.”

This psalm points to Christ, the King of Glory, taking His throne. What’s amazingly glorious and will redirect our thoughts on blah days is to recall Jesus’s promise – that after He died and ascended to heaven He would send another just like Him to live in us. (John 14:16-17) The Spirit of the King of Glory, the King of majesty and splendor is in us, believer!  Instead of letting Him “in,” we ask Him to “fill” us. When we are weak, we remember that the King of Glory is strong. When we are tempted, we remember that the King of Glory has defeated Satan. When we feel blah, we remember that the King of Glory is Lord of a hosts of angels and that we are a part of the glorious, splendid, majestic kingdom of God. Open your heart and eyes to the splendor.

KING OF GLORY, majestic splendor, we lift our hands and open our hearts asking You to cleanse us and fill us with Your glory.
