Praise to God the SPIRIT
“Now the Lord is the SPIRIT, and where the SPIRIT of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
There is much about God that we will never grasp or understand until we get to heaven. However, Jesus has explained God. In John 4:24, Jesus teaches us, “God is SPIRIT, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.” In John 14:16-17, He describes the SPIRIT as another Helper, likening the SPIRIT to Himself. Later, He inspired Paul to write to the church that believers are to walk and live by the SPIRIT; (Galatians 5:16, 25) therein finding true liberty. I praise You, God the SPIRIT. Thank You for Your presence and the liberty we have in You!
Praise to the Lord, My SHEPHERD
“The Lord is my SHEPHERD, I shall not want.”
This is probably one of the more familiar ways in which we know God: SHEPHERD. We say the 23rd Psalm at weddings and funerals. We love this psalm because it comforts us to know that God is our SHEPHERD. He’s leading us. He’s protecting us. He’ll take us through life, death, and home to heaven. For what better reason could we praise Him?
Lord God, You are my SHEPHERD, and I praise You!

Praise to Christ, God’s SERVANT
“Behold, My SERVANT whom I have chosen; My beloved in whom My soul is well pleased…”
God describes Jesus as His SERVANT. Whom did Jesus serve besides His Father? He served the disciples, washing their feet; explaining, “I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is the one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things you are blessed if you do them,” John 13:15-17. Jesus served us. Now, He commands us to serve others in His name.
Lord Jesus, I praise You for willingly serving Your Father’s purposes. Thank You for taking the role of a SERVANT as an example to me.

Praise to Jesus, SENT BY GOD
“For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who SENT ME.”
Amazing words. Jesus, explaining that He had not come down from heaven to do His will, but the will of Him (God, the Father) who SENT HIM. If we have any hope of comprehending God’s love for us, it will come by meditating on this verse. God the Father sent His beloved Son to earth to save us from Satan’s domain. God the Son did for us what no one else could do. Jesus, SENT BY GOD – from heaven – for us.
God, the Father, and Lord Jesus Christ, SENT by God, thank You for loving us and saving us!

Praise to the God of SELF CONTROL
“the fruit of the Spirit is …SELF CONTROL;”
SELF CONTROL is not a highly discussed in relation to God. Yet, think about it. If God didn’t have self-control, He probably would have wiped us off the face of the earth. If SELF-CONTROL was not one of Christ’s attributes, He would have called down legions of angels to secure His freedom in the Garden of Gethsemane. He would have turned the lash on the one lashing Him. But our God is a God of self control. And because He has invested His life in us in through the Holy Spirit, He has given us the opportunity to bear the fruit of His Spirit – self control. What a gift!
Lord, Thank You for not only being a God of SELF CONTROL, but for also giving us Your Spirit by which we can bear self control. You are an awesome God!

Praise to the ROCK of ISRAEL
“You will have songs as in the night when you keep the festival,
And gladness of heart as when one marches to the sound of the flute,
To go to the mountain of the Lord, to the ROCK of ISRAEL.”
Do you ever feel like not another thing can be squeezed out of you? Do you feel you’ve given all you can give? You can’t get water out of a rock, and perhaps that describes you – hard and dry. If so, look to the ROCK OF ISRAEL– Christ. He provided water and life for the Israelites in the wilderness. (Exodus 17:6, 1 Corinthians 10:4) He provides living water for us today. (John 7:37-38) Drink deeply. He loves you so!
ROCK of ISRAEL, You were there for the Jews as they traveled to the Promised Land. You are here for us.We love You and praise You – the One from whom we can drink deeply and be saved; the One from whom we can drink daily and be replenished.

Praise to the Lord Who RESTORES Our Soul
“He RESTORES MY SOUL;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.”
Do you think God expects you to be superman or super woman? He doesn’t. In fact, He acknowledges that our souls need to be refreshed. Red bull and other caffeinated drinks may give us a temporary boost of energy. But a rightly aligned relationship with Jesus and daily refreshment in His presence provide ongoing restoration to our souls. God cares if you are wearied and depleted in your inner being. Open His Word. Ask Him to fill you with His Spirit and to restore your soul.
Lord, I praise You, the One who RESTORES of my soul!
Praise to the Lord, Our REST
“REST IN THE LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.”
Praise to the Lord Who RELEASED US
“…Jesus Christ, … To Him who loves us and RELEASED US from our sins by His blood–”
There are many things from which we might like to be released. We might like to be released from the burden of our taxes. We might like to be released from financial obligations. We might like to be released from the hospital. We might like to be released from a burdensome job. We might like to be released from a commitment. We might like to be released from a grudge someone holds toward us. But, ahh, take a deep breath. Take a moment and ponder what it means that Jesus Christ has RELEASED us from our sins. The Greek word RELEASE means to set free one bound with chains. Ponder even more deeply that our RELEASE came at the cost of Jesus’s life. With a grateful heart, we give genuine thanks to Him. True, we may have other things from which we would love to be released. But today we can be thankful, truly thankful for being RELEASED from our sins.
Lord Jesus Christ, our minds can’t get around the tremendous gift of salvation You purchased for us with Your blood. We love You, THANK YOU, and praise You for RELEASING US FROM OUR SINS! You are a great and loving Savior!
Praise to Christ, Anointed with the OIL of GLADNESS
“But of the SON He says,
…Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your companions.’”
Recently, I watched a friend prepare a salad. First, she washed and dried the lettuce leaves. Next she tore them into pieces. But the salad wasn’t ready to be served. She took a bottle of olive oil and poured it on the lettuce to flavor it. As Christians, Christ has washed us and put us in places of service in our homes and work places. Sometimes we may feel as the lettuce – torn and shredded. But we must always remember that Christ, whom God anointed with the OIL OF GLADNESS, lives in us. We can pray, “pour Yourself upon me.” When we do, we’ll experience Christ’s OIL OF GLADNESS giving our lives a heavenly flavor…even if we’re torn and shredded.
Lord Jesus Christ, I praise You! Pour Your OIL of GLADNESS upon me so others taste the joy of You in my life.
