OMNIPOTENT

08/31/2013

“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.

  1 Chronicles 29:11

God is omnipotent. He is all powerful. We can confidently place our trust in Him as the ultimate, all powerful, omnipotent Lord God of the universe. Why not use the words of praise in 1 Chronicles 29:11 to express your praise to God this morning?

Lord, You are the OMNIPOTENT God! I praise You and give You glory……

OMNIPRESENT

08/30/2013

“’For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.’”

  Matthew 18:20

“I AM THERE.” How can Jesus be in the midst of your prayer group and “there” in the midst of mine, also? The answer is because He is omnipresent – present everywhere at the same time. Isn’t it remarkable? Not until heaven will we fully understand the spiritual world. In the meantime, we can stand in awe of God. And, we can rest assured that when we are gathered in Jesus’ name, He is in our midst. Amazing!

Lord, You are the OMNIPRESENT God! I stand in awe of You and give You praise.

OMNISCIENT

08/29/2013

“Nathanael said to Him, ‘How do You know me?’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.’”

 John 1:48

Nathanael was stunned. He’d never met Jesus. Yet, as he approached Jesus, the Messiah called out, “An Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” In awe, Nathaniel knew at once who this omniscient, all knowing person was. His response? “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.”

Lord, You are all knowing, the OMNISCIENT Son of God! I give You praise.

MERCIFUL

08/28/2013

“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”

Luke 6:36

Quick question: Have you ever been ungrateful? Have you ever needed a loan? Have you ever been wrongly judged? Has someone ever hated you? That was more than one question, wasn’t it? But they all point to topics Jesus addressed prior to His statement in Luke 6:36, “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” That’s something to think about, isn’t it? My Heavenly Father is merciful to me.

Lord, I praise You for being MERCIFUL. Remind me to extend the same mercy to others.

MIGHTY ONE

08/27/2013

“The Mighty One, God, the Lord, the Mighty One, God, the Lord!”
Joshua 22:22

Did you ever watch the cartoon, Mighty Mouse?  The theme song said it all,

“Here I come to save the day! That means that Mighty Mouse is on the way!

Yes sir, when there is a wrong to right, Mighty Mouse will join the fight!

On the sea or on the land, He’s got the situation well in hand!

We know that when there’s danger, we’ll never despair;

Because we know that when there’s danger he is there…

On the land on the sea in the air.

 We’re not worrying at all

We just listen for his call

“Here I come to save the day!”

That means that Mighty Mouse is on the way.*

When I was young and watched that cartoon, I believed Mighty Mouse would save the day. Now, I know better. And, like Joshua, tune in instead to “the Mighty One, God, the Lord, the Mighty One, God, the Lord!”

MIGHTY ONE, God, the Lord, help me to stay tuned to the true words that YOU ARE THE MIGHTY ONE WHO HAS COME TO SAVE THE DAY. May it be said of me, “I’m not worrying at all; I’m just listening for Your call.”

The Mighty Mouse Theme Song, (Philip Scheib / Marshall Barer) – circa 1955

MEEK

08/26/2013

“I, Paul, myself urge you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—”
2 Corinthians 10:1

Christ’s nature amazes me. He is strong and bold. Yet He is also MEEK and gentle. Even more amazing is that God has created a means by which we can live by Christ’s divine nature. Paul recognizes this and explains that he is acting on the basis of Christ’s meekness. The process by which we can live by Christ’s higher nature rather than by our flawed nature is called “being filled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:18) You and I can daily pray, “Lord, fill me with Your Holy Spirit.”

Lord, You are all powerful, and You are also MEEK. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit so I live and relate to others as You would.

MOST HIGH

08/25/2013

“The Lord thundered from heaven, And the Most High uttered His voice.”
2 Samuel 22:14

How big is your God? How often do you recognize His hand in your everyday life? What about in relation to your problems? Does something good come your way, and you pass it off as “that’s nice.” Or, do you bow and thank the MOST HIGH for the gift? From His perspective does He see you as an ungrateful child? Or, does He see you as one who has prayed and then received by His design in response to your prayer? David cried to God in his distress. God responded through what others might have called “favorable circumstances.” But David said, “Thank You, MOST HIGH. You did this in answer to my calling out to You.” He worhsipped and praised God. Today is a good day for us to comb through the prayer journals of our minds and express our gratitude to the MOST HIGH.

Lord, MOST HIGH, give me a heart of praise so that I recognize Your hand in every good thing that comes my way. I worship You, MOST HIGH, and thank You for the gifts You’ve given me in….

IF YOU’RE USING YOUR Prayers of My Heart PRAYER JOURNAL, TAKE SOME TIME TODAY TO RECORD THE “SERENDIPITY, UNEXPECTED GIFTS THE MOST HIGH GAVE YOU LAST WEEK. WITH AN EARNEST HEART, PRAISE HIM FOR EACH ONE.

MIRACLE WORKER

08/24/2013

“So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?”

Galatians 3:5

Have you ever wished for a miracle? Jesus was and still is a Miracle Worker. But consider the combination of the two words: miracle and worker.  Perhaps we think of a miracle as happening with the twitch of the nose as in the 1970’s show “I Dream of Jeannie.” However, Jesus’s life indicates that His miracles were not effortless. They took energy and power. They sometimes took place over a period of time. Rather than prayerfully demand of God, “Do it yesterday,” perhaps we should pour forth thanks for the ways He is working and praise Him.

Lord Jesus Christ, thank You that You are actively engaged in the world and our daily lives. You are a MIRACLE WORKER. Open my eyes to your miracles every day.

MANIFOLD WISDOM

08/23/2013

“…the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church and the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 3:10

God isn’t just smart. He isn’t just wise. He isn’t just all knowing. He is the essence of MANIFOLD wisdom. Try that on for size. If you’re wringing your hands over a decision, look heavenward and praise God for His manifold wisdom. He does things in ways we wouldn’t even consider; such as Jesus dying on the cross. Not until we get to heaven will we truly understand the MANIFOLD WISDOM of God. For now, we’re to trust Him. We’re to lean into Him. We’re to seek His manifold wisdom as we go through our day.

Heavenly Father, You have MANIFOLD WISDOM! Impart Your wisdom to me so that I walk through my day in a way that is pleasing to You and accomplishes Your will.

MAN OF SORROWS

08/22/2013

“He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief…”
Isaiah 53:3

Somehow in our society, we’ve decided that we’re not supposed to feel sorrow. As a matter of fact, some pharmaceutical companies play on the fact that if we do, then something must be wrong and the solution is a pill. However, God has given us a wide range of emotions, including sorrow. Sorrow is not necessarily bad. As a matter of fact, you may find yourself in Christ’s company if you feel sorrow over those who reject Him; or sorrow because of sin; or sorrow over the death of a loved one. If you’re experiencing sorrow, Jesus understands. Look to Him. He will walk with you through your sorrow and to the other side – His joy.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus, MAN OF SORROWS, who walks with me through my grief and leads me to His joy. I love and praise You!
