MAGNIFICENT

08/20/2013
“For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.”

2 Peter 1:4

Are you tired of life as it is? God understands. He never intended us to do “life” apart from Him. He created us to share life in Him and with Him; to live by His divine nature and experience His magnificence. We can get back on track. We can experience Christ in His fullness. How? First, receive Jesus as Savior. Second, take hold of His divine nature through His Spirit and Word. Read the Bible. Saturate your heart with promises. Discover and live by God’s magnificent divine nature, the Holy Spirit.

LORD, You are MAGNIFICENT and Your promises are magnificent. Thank You for salvation, by which I become a partaker of the divine nature. Thank You for the Bible and Your Spirit by which I live out Your magnificent, divine nature.

LORD, GOD of the SPIRITS of ALL FLESH

08/19/2013
“”May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,”

Numbers 27:16

I find it interesting the way in which Moses addressed God: “Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh.” Moses understood that God was more than the God of the Jews. He is the God of the spirits of all. We do well to recognize the Lord in that way, also.

LORD, GOD OF THE SPIRITS OF ALL FLESH, I praise You and worship You.

LORD OF SABAOTH

08/18/2013
“Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.”

James 5:4

When I first read “Lord of Sabaoth” in James 5:4, I thought this name was a reference to the Sabbath. The context is God’s judgment of rich people who don’t pay their laborers their due and the workers’ cries reaching the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. However, this context has nothing to do with Sabbath rest. Rather, “Sabaoth” means host or hosts, especially in relation to warfare or service. Study this name in depth and you will find it is a reference to Jehovah Sabaoth’s reign over the host of angels, the air, nations, and demons. And to think, the Lord of Sabaoth heard the cries of workers who were treated unfairly by their bosses. Keep praying. He hears and will act justly.

Jehovah Sabaoth, I praise You! You are Lord of hosts. I worship You.

LORD OF ALL THE EARTH

08/17/2013
“It shall come about when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth…”

Joshua 3:13

I often hear a person say that it doesn’t matter who you worship, as long as you worship someone or something. I think it matters to Him – the Lord of all the earth.

Heavenly Father, You are LORD OF ALL THE EARTH. May we recognize You as such!

LIVING ONE

08/16/2013
“When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, ‘Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.’”

Revelation 1:18

Someone with whom you’ve been extremely close has died. You’ve grieved. You’ve “lost” them from being with you on a daily basis. Then, you see them!  But, they’re glowing! Their eyes are brilliant. It’s absolutely overwhelming and gloriously terrifying at the same time. You collapse in shock.  That’s a minuscule version of what happened to John when He saw Jesus in His gloriously brilliant kingdom of heaven. Read the whole account in Revelation 1. Bottom line. Jesus had a message: “I’m not dead.”

LIVING ONE, I can’t wait to see You! What a glorious day that will be!

LISTENS

08/15/2013
“Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.’”

Jeremiah 29:12

Do you ever wish that someone would listen to you? You may ask them, “Did you hear me?” They may answer, “Yes.” But the question, “Are they paying attention?” can linger. We don’t have to worry about that with God. He clearly affirms, “You pray. I’ll listen.”

Lord, thank You for LISTENING when I come to You and pray.

ROSEMARY GARLIC POTATOES

08/14/2013

I had some potatoes and was planning on making a yummy side, but was missing an ingredient. So instead, I decided to try a variation and made these Rosemary Garlic Potatoes! They were SO good! I served them at a birthday dinner for my Dad and everyone got seconds. They were delicious and so, so easy! If you need a go-to and super easy side, make these! You have to at least try them. At this stage in my life, I love recipes that are simple, yet and have a good presentation; this recipe does just that! That’s something my Mom is a pro at! Also, this was served alongside steak and shrimp and the Neal’s Asparagus that was previously posted. It would be a great accompanying dish to almost any meal though: chicken, hamburgers, bbq, sandwiches, etc. Hope all of you like it!  Here’s the recipe!

ROSEMARY GARLIC POTATOES p. 403

3-4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced

1 TBS olive oil

3 cloves minced garlic

4 springs fresh rosemary

salt and pepper to taste

In a large bowl, toss all ingredients together except for the rosemary. Place the mixture in a very lightly oiled baking dish. Evenly space the rosemary in the potato mixture. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees for approximately 45 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender and golden brown on top.

Variation: Use 9-12 new potatoes cut into quarters. (This is what I did.) Place on a large baking sheet and bake until tender and brown.

“In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” Psalm 5:3

TABLE BLESSING

You sustain me, Lord.
You are the reason I live.

Teach me how to love like You

And how to freely give.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD

08/14/2013
“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.’”

John 8:12

Are you in a dark spot? It happens. We can go through life and see our way clearly. Then, something happens. We can’t see our way forward. Our eyes are blurred. It’s like we have cataracts. We can kind of see, but not as we know we should. Jesus brings light. Bring Him into your situation through prayer. Tell others about Him. He’s not just our light, but the light of the world

Lord, You are the LIGHT OF THE WORLD and my LIGHT. I praise of You.

LIFE

08/13/2013
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’”

John 14:6

Have you ever looked for “life” in someone or something apart from Jesus? Perhaps in your younger years you were called “the life of the party.” Maybe you bought into the idea that the right job, house, car, or person would bring you all in life you wanted. But, they were either illusive, disappointing, or simply fell short of the life for which you longed. Our hearts will never be happy until they are at home with the Lord. He is our life – the life for which we yearn.

Lord, You are the way, the truth, and the LIFE! In praise of you, I bow and worship You.

LAWGIVER

08/12/2013
“For the Lord is our judge,The Lord is our lawgiver, The Lord is our king; He will save us—”

 Isaiah 33:22

I like this verse because it reminds me that laws aren’t meant to defeat me, but rather save me. Just as we “lay down the law” to children, “Look right and left before crossing the street;” God gives us moral and ethical laws so we don’t get run over by life. Try living apart from God’s laws, and you’ll eventually see the harm of it. The Lord is our  lawgiver, judge, king, and Savior. We do well to listen to Him.

Lord, I praise You, LAWGIVER, who spares me from devastation by the laws You set before me.
