SAVIOR

04/30/2013

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.”

Jude 1:24-25

If that verse doesn’t make you smile, I don’t know what will! You can almost hear Jude proclaiming His praise to God. God is our only SAVIOR. It is HE who is able to keep us from stumbling. HE is able to make us stand in the presence of God’s glory with great joy. To Jesus be (say it with me) glory, majesty, dominion and authority! AMEN!

God our SAVIOR, You are worthy above all to be praised.

SANCTIFIER

04/29/2013

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Thessalonians 5:23

I wish I wouldn’t sin any more. I long for the day when I don’t mess up. I can’t imagine how freeing that would feel. But, it’s impossible! Or, is it? The fact is, it’s NOT impossible and it will happen to those who have called on Jesus for salvation. How is it possible? God has chosen, by His grace, to sanctify us. That means he has set us apart as His; and as His, He has also taken the taken the responsibility to make sure our holiness comes to completion. That’s something to shout about!

God, I praise You, my SANCTIFIER. Thank You for setting me apart for Yourself and for taking it upon Yourself to sanctify me complete and without blame at the coming of my Lord Jesus Christ.

SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, & FOREVER

04/28/2013

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever

Hebrews 13:8

Do you ever feel that things change so fast you can hardly keep up?  Does nothing seem the same or like it used to be? If so, take heart. God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Also, be warned. Be alert to shifting standards and morals. If God said it yesterday, His Word stands true today.

Lord God, thank You that You do not change.  You are the SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, and FOREVER. I Can count on You.

SACRIFICE

04/27/2013

“…walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma .”

Ephesians 5:2

Has anyone ever sacrificed anything for you? Have they sacrificed their sleep so you could sleep? Have they sacrificed advancing so you could? Have they sacrificed their plans so you could do yours? Sacrifice. Most of us do not willingly sacrifice. Instead, we look out for number one. But Jesus did the opposite. He sacrificed His life for us. He thought of us, not Himself. He sacrificed His life for you

Jesus, thank You for willing giving up Your plans, Your comfort, Your life for me; for being a SACRIFICE to God on my behalf so that I might live in His pesence one day.

RULER of the KINGS of the EARTH

04/25/2013

“Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.”

Revelation 1:5

Do you sometimes wonder about our world and what the future holds? Revelation 1:5 gives me great comfort. It reminds me to look heavenward in confidence to the ruler of the kings of the earth.

Lord Jesus Christ, what a glorious blessing to know that this world is not spinning out of control. You are enthroned, RULER of the KINGS of the EARTH

ROSE of SHARON

04/24/2013

“I am the Rose of Sharon, the lily of the valleys.”

Song of Solomon 2:1

I’ll be honest. Until today, I’ve never understood why Jesus is referred to as the Rose of Sharon. Here’s what I found out from scholar Herbert Lockyer. “Amongst flowers, the rose always and everywhere, with us now and still more in the East and of old, has held the foremost rank; and amongst the rose, the Rose of Sharon was chief. In the words of an ancient author, ‘If a king were set over flowers, it would be the rose that should reign over them, being the ornament of the earth, the splendor of plants, the eye of flowers, the beauty of the field.’ In other words, this title calls to our attention the beautiful fragrance of Christ’s life displayed so spectacularly in His love.

Jesus, we look on You in the beauty of Your splendor. You are the sweetest fragrance of all the earth, the ROSE of SHARON.

RESPLENDENT

04/22/2013

“You are resplendent...”

Psalm 76:4

Has the news recently reminded you of how dark our world is? Evil is surrounded with darkness. However, God is the opposite. He is the light and even more so. He illumines the darkness. Or, as the psalmist says, God is resplendent. What a wonderful Lord to whom we look.

Lord, You are RESPLENDENT! I can’t wait to see You in heaven’s splendor.

REST

04/21/2013

Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.”

Psalm 37:7

REST. Genesis to Revelation, “rest” is a subject the Bible addresses. In our stressed out generation, it would serve us well to do a Biblical study of the subject. God rested on the 7th day of creation. He established a Sabbath rest. God invites us to enter into His rest. Yes, there are men who carry out wicked schemes. But God tells us to rest in Him and wait patiently for Him. I’m thankful that in God there is rest
Lord, thank You for inviting me to enter into Your REST! Thank You for the Sabbath REST You established. I praise You!

RESCUER

04/20/2013

“He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.”

Colossians 1:13

There IS a domain of darkness. In the Bible, darkness is a metaphor for “darkened” understanding; such as “ignorance about divine things as well as ungodliness and immorality together with their consequent misery in hell.”** 1 John 1:19 explains “the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” But, Christ Jesus has literally rescued us. Just like a firefighter who dashes into a blazing building, rescues someone, and carries them to safety, our Lord has dashed Satan’s realm, rescued us, and carried us to His kingdom. That’s something to think about with a grateful heart.

Lord Jesus, You are my RESCUER! I love You! I thank You! I praise You!

RIGHTEOUS

04/19/2013

“Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand”

Isaiah 41:10

God amazes me! Just when I think that I have good reason to fear – N Korea with nuclear missiles, the Boston Marathon being bombed, Ricin on mail, school shootings, plant explosions, not to mention the danger to our children with the legalizaton of the Plan B pill as an over-the-counter drug; I pause and read Isaiah 41:10. “Do not fear, for I am with you.” Is that not an incredible reason to not fear? I can’t argue with that. God promises to strengthen us and help us. How? His righteous right hand will uphold us. In the midst of evil, in the throes of terror there will be an undergirding, a righteous powerful hand holding us up. God is righteous and His righteousness is not going anywhere.

Lord, thank You for Your RIGHTEOUSNESS and that You uphold me in the midst of that which I might otherwise fear.
