Hope In God

Why You Can Stop Worrying

04/30/2026
Person sitting and looking out over the horizon, reflecting hope and trust in Jesus as Head Over All Rule and Authority who reigns above all things.

Do you worry about where our nation is headed? Although evil may temporarily prevail, the Bible tells us the end of the story, and it’s a good ending. God prevails. Colossians 2:10 tells us Christ is not only the head of a believer and head over the church, He is head over all rule and authority. “…in Him [Christ] you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority.” Isn’t that exciting?

One day every knee will bow before Him. Examples of people humbling themselves before the Lord who is the head over all rule and authority are found throughout the Bible. Just such a case is King Nebuchadnezzar, who prided himself in his power. Read his testimony after God humbled him.

“But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom endures from generation to generation” (Daniel 4:34).

Jesus is head over all rule and authority. Do you acknowledge Him as such and therefore have an uplifted countenance knowing the end of the Bible? Is there someone you can encourage with the reminder that in spite of the moral decline and turning away from God, that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord?

Lord Jesus, thank You that You are HEAD OVER ALL RULE AND AUTHORITY! Use me to speak of my confidence in You and Your reign.

Deliverance From Calamity

11/20/2025

If it’s been a while since you’ve read 2 Samuel 22, today would be a wonderful time to read it. David models thanksgiving to God. He isn’t thanking God because he feels he must or because he’s been told to thank God. Rather, He’s praising God because he’s overwhelmed with thanksgiving to Him. He’s seen God answer his prayers and meet his needs.

In 2 Samuel 22:51, David praises God for being a tower of deliverance. “He is a tower of deliverance to His king, And shows lovingkindness to His anointed, to David and his descendants forever.”

Is there something from which you need delivering? Perhaps worry, resentment, fear, or covetousness? Let the Lord be for you who He was to David…a tower of deliverance for whom you’re thankful. Go to Him now and ask Him to deliver you.

Lord, You are a TOWER OF DELIVERANCE! I praise You with my whole heart for delivering me from Satan’s domain; for delivering me from worry; for delivering me from sin. You are worthy of my praise for all eternity.

The Lord is always present and wants us to talk to Him through prayer. Learn to pray more purposefully through Debbie’s book, “Pray with Purpose, Live with Passion.”

Sunbathe in God’s Resplendence

09/27/2025

Would you agree that the news can sometimes leave you feeling unsettled and discouraged regarding the state of our world?

While it is true that darkness often surrounds us, it is also true that we can be encouraged and find hope in God, whom Psalm 76:4 describes as luminous. Or, as the psalmist states, “God is resplendent.”

Think about the word “resplendent.” It doesn’t just refer to a physical quality. It encompasses much more. It refers to God’s magnificence and glory that are beyond comparison.

Where can we bask in His resplendence? The Bible. We can read the Psalms.

We can look up at the glory of the heavens.

We can meditate on God’s attributes.

Rather than despair in the hopelessness and discouragement of the world, spend time “sunbathing” in God’s Light.

Lord, You are RESPLENDENT! Illumine my life with Your glory.

Download this free printable featuring the attributes of Jesus from the book of John. As you reflect on each one, bask in God’s resplendence by praising Him!

Your Hope is Well Placed if It’s Here

07/14/2025

Could you use a shot of hope that God sees and hears you? If so, consider James 5:4 where God is referred to as Lord of Sabaoth.

“Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.”

In this passage, Sabaoth means host or hosts, especially in relation to warfare or service. It’s a reference to Jehovah Sabaoth’s reign over the host of angels, the air, nations, and demons. Praise God, He is in charge of all of that. But now take it down to a worker in a field. To think that the Lord of Sabaoth heard the cries of workers who were unfairly treated by their bosses is amazing.

Are you being unjustly treated? Does it seem like no one notices what you are doing or hears your pleas for help? Rest assured that the Lord of Sabaoth notices you and hears you. Your hope is well placed in Him. We may seldom understand God’s timing, but we can always have confidence that the God who reigns over the host of angels, the air, demons, and nations hears our prayers.

LORD OF SABAOTH, I worship You and am humbled that You see me and hear my prayers. I place my hope in You knowing You will answer my prayers in Your perfect timing according to Your will.
