2 Corinthians 10:1

Are you ever concerned that Christ is sitting in heaven eyeing your sin and his holy face is twisted in disgruntlement? In other words, you’re an inch from being zapped as a result of your sin? If so, today is a good day to rethink your view of Jesus. Paul, a candidate for being “zapped” before he became a Christ-follower, tells us what Jesus is like.  “I, Paul, myself urge you by the MEEKNESS and gentleness of Christ—” 2 Corinthians 10:1. When Paul refers to Christ as meek, he uses a word that means “mildness of disposition and gentleness of spirit.” In other words, Christ isn’t a cloud-sitting Savior watching for someone He can zap if they take a wrong turn in life. Paul realizes Jesus could have zapped him dead on the Damascus Road, but rather, Christ in mercy called and commissioned Paul to a new purposeful life. Our Savior is all-powerful, but He has a meek disposition toward us, not a “zap you if you mess up” disposition. He understands what it’s like to be human, to struggle, to deal with daily life, problems, and stress. Relish your Savior’s meekness. Talk to Him. Read His wisdom truths in the Sermon on the Mount and keep reading through Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Meditate on the precious words He brought us from heaven. They’re food for a sound mind and a steady course until we reach our ultimate destiny – heaven.

Lord Jesus, thank You for being on our side. Thank You for looking at us with eyes of gentle meekness. We love You and are ever grateful for You.

Friends, I’ve been out of pocket caring for my husband who has had a few setbacks since his 7/7 spinal surgery. Thank you for your patience and mostly for your prayers for Keith’s recovery.

Are you struggling? Are you always worried that Christ is looking from heaven waiting to catch you mess up so He can zap you for something you do wrong? If so, today is a good day to rethink your view of Jesus.  That’s not who He is. Are you struggling? Are you always worried that Christ is looking from heaven waiting to catch you mess up so He can zap you for something you do wrong? If so, today is a good day to rethink your view of Jesus.  That’s not who He is. Paul, a candidate for being “zapped” for screw ups fills us in on what Jesus is like.  “I, Paul, myself urge you by the MEEKNESS and gentleness of Christ—” 2 Corinthians 10:1. When Paul refers to Christ as meek, he uses a word that means “mildness of disposition and gentleness of spirit.” In other words, He isn’t a cloud sitting Savior watching for someone He can zap if they take a wrong turn in life. Does Paul realize that the Savior who appeared to him on the Damascus Road when he was persecuting believers could have zapped him dead rather than commissioned him to a new purposeful life? Yes. Does Paul realize that Christ not only didn’t zap him, but loved and forgave him?  Yes. True, Christ is all powerful. But He has a mild disposition toward us; not a “zap you if you mess us” disposition. He gets what it’s like to be human and struggle, to deal with daily life, problems, and stress. Relish your Savior’s meekness. Talk to Him. Read His wisdom truths in the Sermon on the Mount and keep reading through Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Meditate on the precious few recorded words He brought us from heaven. They’re food for a sound mind and a steady course forward til you reach the ultimate joy of heaven.

Lord Jesus, thank You for being on our side. Thank You for looking from heaven on us with eyes of gentle meekness. We love You and are grateful for You. XO

Praise to Christ, Who Is MEEK

07/27/2018

“I, Paul, myself urge you by the MEEKNESS and gentleness of Christ—”

Christ’s nature amazes me. He is strong yet also MEEK. When Paul refers to Christ’s meekness, the word he uses means “mildness of disposition and gentleness of spirit.” Isn’t that interesting? The Savior who stopped Paul dead in his tracks when he was persecuting believers refers to Christ as meek. Do you think that means Paul knew Christ could have just as easily zapped him dead? Yes. Do you think it means Paul realized that Christ not only forgave him for what he had done, but then gave him meaningful, restorative work to do? Undoubtably.
The amazing thing about Christ is that He is all powerful, but He has a mild disposition. He dies for us. He forgives us. He prays for us. The all-powerful, holy Christ loves you. If you’ve strayed from Him, He welcomes you back with arms open wide. If you don’t feel worthy of His love because you’ve sinned one too many times, He already knows what you’ve done and forgives you. Won’t you respond to our amazing, meek Savior and run into His arms? He’s full of grace. He welcomes you. He waits for you.
Lord Jesus Christ, You are all powerful, but also MEEK; with a mild disposition toward us.  Please help us respond to Your gracious offer to forgive and restore us to Yourself.

MEEK

08/26/2013

“I, Paul, myself urge you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—”
2 Corinthians 10:1

Christ’s nature amazes me. He is strong and bold. Yet He is also MEEK and gentle. Even more amazing is that God has created a means by which we can live by Christ’s divine nature. Paul recognizes this and explains that he is acting on the basis of Christ’s meekness. The process by which we can live by Christ’s higher nature rather than by our flawed nature is called “being filled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:18) You and I can daily pray, “Lord, fill me with Your Holy Spirit.”

Lord, You are all powerful, and You are also MEEK. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit so I live and relate to others as You would.
